Mission Accepted (Cadence/Hades) (R)

Navigating the car around the corner of the icy mountains, Hades blasted music on the stereo while finishing his cigar. The dossier on his latest job sitting on the seat beside him. Cadence Lestrange, the cousins of his fellow vampire Lady Dellen had hired him to transport there daughter safely from Norway to England to Lestrange Manor.

He made his way to the museum she was working on sight. He had been warned she wasn't the most pleasant of people but he had to admit she was beautiful. Parking he walked inside the building, flashing his wand as a form of identification he was lead to the department she was working in today.

He lowered his hood, the trench coat he wore covered most of his ink but the art was alarming to others nontheless. Removing his sunglasses he said smoothly "i'm here for Doctor Lestrange"

Cadence sat cross-legged in a high back chair pouring over several different tombs she had special permission to be viewing. White gloves covered her hands as she gently turned pages as she read and jotted down notes. As a history collector for her department, she enjoyed being able to travel the world to work on site. Her red hair was pulled back in a pony-tale, her wand stuck through it, allowing her collarbones to show and her green shirt to accent her hair and eyes. She wore dark wash jeans and grey canvas sneakers, which she had removed when she sat in the chair. The museum was quiet, and she enjoyed it that way when she worked.

When the door opened to where she was and someone announced that they were there for her, Cadence didn't raise her eyes from the tomb she was reading. Instead, she kept working as she had been and said, "And why are you here for her?"

"Her parents have sent me to collect her" he said his tone remaining neutral, he glanced at the picture of her he had slipped into his pocket along with a letter explaining his being there from her parents. "Doctor Cadence Lestrange" he said as he matched her with her photo, "this is a letter from your parents explaining my presence."


Dear Cadence,

Once again we find ourselves in a difficult situation, and while we have had to send you away before we once more have to ask to much of you. It has come to our attention that not only is someone after your father and I but they are after you as well. Your occupation it appears has put you in danger and though we are very proud we still protest your keeping up with it. Mister Grimm has been tasked with your protection you must stay off the normal networks of travel for our kind and he will keep you safe as he takes you to your grandmothers house where you will be safe till the danger passes.

We will see you in London.

Cadence looked up as he mentioned he had been sent to collect her. His inked skin caught her attention right off, and while many would see him as horrific, she found him....striking... When he called her by name, knowing her this time, and saying he had a letter for her from her parents, she slipped her feet into her shoes and removed her gloves, setting them next to her parchment. Standing and walking towards him, she took the letter and popped the wax seal and read it, leaning against the long table she was working at. Setting her teeth, she let out a frustrated breath through her nose. Why did they always do this? She was an Unspeakable and was very good at what she did. Being chased, followed, whatever.... It was a risk and part of the job.

Fisting her fingers around the letter, she glanced up at Mr. Grimm, as the letter had called him. "I thank you for coming all this way, but I won't be going with you, Mr. Grimm. It's not necessary for me to leave, no matter how much my parents believe it is," she said simply, setting the letter aside and picking her gloves up to go back to work.

He had been warned she would be like this, "I understand that Doctor Lestrange but you see I've been ordered to protect you not just by your parents, indeed they hired me but I also answer to a higher power." holding out a seal envelope with the ministers seal on it, enclosed was a letter simply stating the need for her safe return officially sactioning this job. "Your an unspeakable Doctor, your capture or harm could be a case of national security". He hated bringing out the minister's letters he was known to work for higher ups and getting his jobs sactioned or checked on but he hated using the government's favor for his work.

She looked up at him when he mentioned that he was hired not just by her parents. Dropping her eyes to the envelope baring the Minister's Seal, she knew what it meant. One didn't just get a sealed envelope such as that, and they were made so as to not be duplicated by anyone. Raising her bright eyes to him, she shifted her jaw to the side as she realized her work was going to be interrupted, once again, thanks to her chosen occupation. With a sigh, Cadence moved back to her things and began to pack them up.

"I am well aware of what I am and what kind of damage could be done should I be taken. It's part of the job...." she told him, her voice calm, while she packed up her parchment, quills, and ink as well as stacking the totems and flicking her wrist so they levitated back to their cases which closed and locked once they were in place. "However, I can not say no to the Minister's request. But, I am able to protect myself. I have so far, and I will continue to... Thus, I will see myself home, Mr. Grimm," Cadence told him, closing her messenger bag and slipping it over her shoulder.

His jaw tightened though he worked his damnedest to keep himself calm "Doctor Lestrange, I am not just hired for any old scholar, I am older then the scrolls on your work table and lived almost as long as your grandmother. I am hired for only high risk jobs, the ones humans dont return from alive" he emphasised the word alive as he spoke "I will escort you to England, I will take you to Lestrange Manor, I will protect you as I have been hired to do."

Crossing her arms across her chest, Cadence allowed one of her hips to pop to the side. She had had just about enough of her parents messing with her work. She understood that the danger was there, that something must have made this man, the best of the best at what he did, get hired to look after her. Regardless, she wasn't too keen on going with him. "And, what if I don't go with you?" she dared to ask, her bright eyes hard and unblinking as she waited for his answer.

"Then you will have made me take you by force" he said his list straw being used up before he stunned her and carried her out. "I apologize but it is my job, i have my assignment from your parents and my orders from madam minister. I am to transport you home post haste and if i have to take you like a common criminal then i shall"

Cadence's eyes narrowed as he told her what he would do should she not come with him as he was requesting. "You wouldn't," she again dared. While she didn't want to leave, she knew she needed to, thanks to the Minister getting involved. But, it was also her job. The Minister knew the dangers that came with it. If she was so desirable, why would they send her all over the world? Why not keep her home? "Good day, Mr. Grimm," she said as she moved to exit the museum herself.

With a flick of his wand and nonverbale spell she fell stunned into his arms. Carrying her to the car he laid her in the back and shrugged out of his trench coat he laid it over her. Closing the door he started his vehicle and hit the road with four hours to drive before she woke.

Cadence felt her body rocking gently and heard a soft clicking sound in a steady rhythm. She knew this sound and feeling. A train? Opening her eyes, she looked around getting her barrings before sitting up slowly. So, he wasn't bluffing. He had stunned her, taking her by force as he said he would. Getting to her feet, she glanced over her shoulder and spotted him sitting on the top bunk, reading. Reading.... Her eyes grew wide as she scanned the carriage where they were, searching for her bag. "Where is it? Where is it?" she murmured, beginning to search frantically for it. If getting her was a danger, so was getting her bag with all the gathered information and assignments in it...

"if your looking for your bag Doctor, it is beside me." he said lazily as he turned a page "you will get it back if you promise not to run away and accept the fact your stuck with me"

Looking up as he mentioned where her bag was, Cadence glance around him and spotted the dark brown leather of her messenger bag. Letting, out a small sigh of releif that it was still with them, she relaxed only slightly. Focusing on the man, who was now her captor or protector or whatever, she listened to the conditions in which she would get it back. "We're on a train... Where am I going to go, Mr. Grimm? Magial or not, I'm not in the habit to hurling myself off the back of a moving train to the tracks below... Besides, if we need to travel the mundane way, Apparation is a bit out of the question..." she said simply before moving to lean against the wall of their carriage, placing on foot flat against the wall and crossing her arms. "As for accepting that I'm stuck with you... Whether or not I want to accept it, you've proven it when you stunned me to bring me here. There is also no point in trying to get away as, if what you said is true about how long you have lived compaired to my grandmother, you hold extra abilities that someone like me wouldn't have a shot in the dark of getting away from. So, yes, as you so eloquently put it, I am stuck with you," she said, keeping her eyes level with the man as he read. "May I have it back?" Cadence asked politely, her mannerism shifting ever so slightly to the woman she was when she wasn't the job.

He smiled flipping another page not once interupted in his reading, "Hades" he said "My name is Hades" he handed her the bag and looked at her a coy smile on his lips. "I only stunned you to get you out of the complex in time"

A small smile touched the corner of her lips at hearing his name. "Like the Muggle god of the underworld..." she mused. Taking her bag from him, Cadence hugged it to her chest. "You already know my name, I assume, Mr. Grimm. What do you mean, get me out in time?" she asked, not dropping the formality between the two of them. She didn't feel quite comfortable enough to call him by his first name. "If the threat was so bad, why not remove me sooner than you did?" she asked further.

"because it only came to the attention of your parents that there was a hit out on you recently" he said closing his book he sat up his legs dangling off the bed. He handed her a muggle cell phone with a photo on the screen "One of my contacts at the museum sent me this, the enchantments saved the artifacts but the building is ruined."

The build was on fire and in ashes "these people want to kill you Cadence"

A hit? A hit on me? Cadence's brow furrowed as she processed what Hades told her. Reaching out, she took the cell phone he held out to her and looked at the picture it showed. Her jaw went slack ans her eyes widened as she saw the museum where she had been sitting working only hours before in ruins. His last statement made her look up, her bright eyes flashing with a touch of fear. "When..... When did this happen? Who did this? Why?" she asked, her voice growing stronger and stronger with each word she spoke

"Your working on something valuable" he stated plainly "and the knowledge in your head is worth thousands and thousands of galleons i had a feeling something bad was coming so I put a call in they didnt catch them but a team of aurors and mediwitches made it in time to save everyone, all that is lost is the building"

Taking the phone from her hand he said "We will continue to use muggle transportation, tomorrow morning we will be getting a hotel room for one night before we continue on our journey. We have to keep moving" he explained.

Turning the light over his bed off he left one on for her "get some sleep doctor, for tonight you are safe.
Tomorrow we journey forward."

He watched as she nodded slowly, putting down her bag she slid into bed and turned out the light. Dimly she listened to the sound of pages turning in the darkness as she drifted off to sleep.

Next morning...

Adfter a early morning to disembark from the train, hades took them to a small hotel not far from the station. After paying for a room he accepted the room key and carried his bag and her luggage he had gotten from her room in Norway. "Welcome to Sweden doctor" he said as he opened the door to there room.

Cadence adjusted her bag, the one thing that she wouldn't let him carry. The reality that her life being in danger as she was weighed heavily on her as she followed Hades into the hotel they would be staying at for the night. Being an Unspeakable was dangerous, but this was new. Nodding and managing a small smile to Hades, she stepped into the room he had paid for. Her eyes scanned the quaint room seeing the usual two beds, fireplace, bathroom, sofa filled it. Setting her messenger bag on one of the beds, Cadence moved to the window and, moving the drapes slightly, glanced out. "I was supposed to do a study here when I finished in Norway..." she said to no one.

"its rich with magic..perhaps one day you will come back" he said as he warded the room. "this is a muggle hotel so be careful with magic and try not to wander" he chuckled softly. Sitting on his bed he set his wand on the end table along with a hand gun and a knife long as his arm. Lining them up perfectly he flicked his wrist and the window opened slightly, flipping a zippo lighter along his fingers he lit a cigarette. "Its safe Cadence, feel free to relax a little bit"

"I hope so," she said to him, letting the curtains fall and sitting heavily on the edge of her bed with a sigh. With his warning, Cadence nodded her understanding. She felt vulnerable, even here, but she was determined to be the strong woman she knew she was. A hit on her wasn't going to change that she loved what she did. Looking behind her, she watched as Hades set his weapons and wand on his end table. He must be good at his job if the Minister sent him. At his comment to relax since they were safe, Cadence got up and opened her one suitcase, removing a change of clothes. "Be back shortly," she said before slipping into the bathroom and shutting the door. Believing she shut it all the way, Cadence actually left a small opening in the door. Stripping down and removing her hair tie, she gave her red hair a toss and turned the shower on. Stepping in, she took the time to allow the hot water to relax her tight muscles and the steam to sooth her tired mind.

Smoking his cig he watched her unpack some clothing and walk towards the shower, a dark chuckle in his throat as she left the door open he flicked his wrist opening it a tiny bit more he watched as the hot water fell over her naked form. From where he lounged he could see her and he felt a stirring inside him as desire woke like a beast. A possive nature took its hold as he watched her beautiful body-in one moment the game had changed. He wanted her-so he would take her.

After the night she had, the hot shower was just what she needed. Washing, Cadence finished up her shower and stepped out, grabbing one of the white fluffy towles hanging in wait. Drying off, she dressed in jeans and a dark purple, 3/4 sleeve, v-neck top. Taking the towel, she gently began to dry the excess water from her hair when she noticed the door to the bathroom was a jar. Stopping and looking out, she spotted Hades lounging on his bed and her features hardened. He had a perfect view of anything that went on in the bathroom. Furious that he would sneak a peek at her, Cadence wadded the towel and, storming from the bathroom, threw it at him using magic to be sure it found him and hit him hard. "How dare you.... How dare you spy on my like that!" she growled through clenched teeth. Turning to her bed, she grabbed her socks and shoes, slipping them on quickly, as well as a hair tie around her wrist for later, and headed for the door out of their room, anger from her making the lamps on the bedside tables tremble.

"Easy Doctor" he chuckled "its not my fault you didn't close the door"
