Apologies on the delay (Lily)

James sat in one of the benches at the end of the village, sighing with happiness. He took one last glance at the pocket of his black slacks. The blue box that held a special ring remained there. Hidden until it was time for him to show his girl what he wished for their relationship to become. Their walks through Hogsmeade usually ended by that bench, and James knew Lily would eventually arrive. The snow fell softly during that sunday. Perhaps as if it knew what James wanted to do...

Lily felt amazing today. For the very first day since the war started. She didn't even know why. Maybe because Petunia finally realized, Lily is not the one to be blamed for being magical. Sure, she always understood why her sister was so bitter about whole magical World. It must have been hard to be the one left behind and Lily would do anything to have Petunia with her at Hogwarts. Even if only because she would probably never meet that fat stupid muggle jackass Vernon, but what could she do? Still, she was glad Petunia wrote her this morning and agreed to have sort of a double date during Christmas break. Now only to convince James to come. But Lily was sure he will agree to it eventually. She saw him sitting on the bench so she quietly came closer and jumped at him from behind.

James slowly let himself be more relaxed, as he waited for Lily. His mind drifted to the day at the Hog's Inn, when the gryffindor gang talked to Morgan. He was glad she seemed to understand his point. Morgan was far from stupid, and at least knew what was right. Just like Lily did. And when his mind suddenly went back to his girl...

James jumped slightly, as he felt someone go against his back, softer than any marauder would. He quickly felt the scent that usually came when his beauty was around and relaxed. James turned around in the bench, smiling up at her. "Trying to scare me?" He asked, with his usual smirk.

"Nope, just trying to come up with new and crazier hello every time," she smiled and gave him a gentle kiss. It seemed like forever to her since they were dating. James really changed. He was adult now. He let the stupid stuff he used to do be and helped Lily to forget how much Severus hurt her, years ago now.

"Guess you're gonna have to start thinking of the next crazy hello," he smiled brightly, reaching out and grabbing Lily's arm softly after she gave him one of her calming kisses. He pulled her slightly to him, and pointed to his lap with a smirk, "You're gonna sit aren't you? At least sit somewhere comfortable and not in this hard wood," He stated with a devious chuckle, before glancing over at his sides. No one was around. Everyone was either inside the shops or at Hogwarts. Perfect...

Lily looked at him curiously. "James Potter, what are you up to?" she asked with raised eyebrow as she stayed on her feet lookig at her boyfriend, sitting on that bench. She could tell he was up to something. And that usually wasn't a good sign. Not even for mature version of James.

James chuckled mischievously, like he did back when he was younger. "You always think I'm up to something..." he answered, blowing a kiss at his girlfriend, before slowly dropping his eyes to the ground. "Remus is engaged ya'know. And Arthur's been telling me he plans to ask Molly...I'm pretty sure Sirius is gonna ask Mira soon too..." he said, wondering if Lily'd take the hint...

Lily smiled and than looked at him as he started to talk about upcoming events. "Yeah, seems like all your buddies will be soon enslaved by their women," she laughed a bit. Truth was she wondered where he was going with this. She wished him to ask her for quite a while now. Lots of girls were alredy engaged. Some of them, even those who would Lily never expect to even have someone, like Morana Gaunt, were alredy married. And yes, they were maybe young, but really happy. And even her sister was engaged now. Somehow, Lily had a feeling that was the reason why Petunia accepted her offer for dinner. Because she had something Lily didn't have.

Lily was in shock. She dreamt about this moment, but she didn't really think it will happen. Or that it will happen so soon. James didn't seem to want what other boys in the gang wanted. Tears appeared in her eyes together with the happiest smile she ever had on her lips. "James, I..." she started, but didn't finish. She felt like she needed to say mre than just simple yes, but she couldn't find a words. "Of course I will marry you!" she said in the end.

James quickly pounced out of the bench, wrapping his powerful arms around his redhead and bringing her as close to him as she could be. It was about time Lily Evans turned into Lily Potter. "I love you..." James said, not smirking, but still showing his happiness through his tone. James could now tell his father how he was going to get married, and continue the Potter family. And he was damn glad his father didn't care about blood purity.

"I love you too!" she told him and gave him another kiss. She was going to be Lily Potter. If she was told this three years ago, she would call the person completely insane. But now it was truth and she couldnt be happier.

"Your sister is gonna be so jealous when she sees you actually got engaged to an attractive man," James smirked, praising himself before turning serious once more. "And my parents are gonna be proud I'm engaged to such an amazing and beautiful woman..." he finished, smiling kindly down at Lily, praising her this time around...

Lily blushed slightly. "Speaking if my sister, she agreed to double date with us, next week during Christmas break. In muggle London. Please, tell me you will go? I would like to keep at least some sort of relationship with my sister," she said with the nicest smile she could do. "And no pranks on Vernon. At least not the obvious ones," she added with warning tone.

James sighed slightly, but kept his eyes on Lily. As much as he disliked her sister, she still was Lily's sister. He had to make it work somehow if Lily was still interested in maintaining a good relationship with her. "It's for you. If you want to at least still be able to be civil towards Petunia, I'll go and at least try to be happy," he said, budging a smirk, but it soon perished at the mention of Vernon. "If he doesn't act like a jackass I'll try...otherwise, no promises," he stated, narrowing his eyes slightly, but chuckling afterwards. That Vernon was truly was a prick...

"Thank you," she whispered into his lips happily and kissed him again.

About a week later, somewhere in muggle London:

Lily was slightly nervous as she apparated just corner away from the restaurant they were supposed to meet. She was there two days ago, so she could find out what type of restaurant it is and how should they be dressed. Of course it was one of the most expensive and luxury restaurants around. Petunia and specialy Vernon liked to show they have more, than Lily. Last time, it was embarrasing try with a new car, this time it was restaurant, which was supposed to show, how much they could afford. Lily got imidiately bad feeling about this. James' parents were rich purebloods and when she told him about the restaurant, she didn't doubt he will bring so much money, he would actually be able to buy whole restaurant and not only meal. Boys... she sighed as she was waiting for her fiance.

Petunia got out from her car, in short gold dress. Today, they will succeed. She was engaged to Vernon finally and with the ring she had on, there was no doubt that for once, she will be the better one against her sister. So with Vernon and slightly annoyed face she was waiting for Lily and her boyfriend to arrive.

Blood traitors. Some said they were an abomination, yet, because of his father being such thing, James had his fair share of muggle money as well. He wasn't gonna let Lily be embarrassed by her family. He quickly apparated where the little double date would take place, this time, behind Lily. He slowly walked to her, blowing a bit of air into her neck. She looked beautiful as always, and James couldn't be more pleased with the sight. With a small rose in his hand, he smirked, waiting for his fiancee to turn back to him. He was a bit worried, but only because of Lily. Her sister usually tried to show she was superior and James felt as if that hurt Lily, even if she tried not to show it. It was time to show how much Lily truly had...

Vernon closed the door of his Chrysler New Yorker Brougham, adjusting his expensive suit. He tapped his huge belly, glancing over at the restaurant. His hunger was massive as usual. As he looked around, not spotting Lily and her filthy boyfriend, he walked to his fiancee, mumbling things about James. "You look fantastic. Your sister's boyfriend will fall to his knees once he sees you..." he praised his woman, with a smirk, before taking out his wallet. He opened it, gazing at how much money he had brought. He was gonna spend it all. Just to make Petunia feel wanted...

Lily turned to him and gave her fiance the brightest smile, before she kissed him. "Hello my troublemaker. Ready for another probably akward dinner?" she asked him with chuckle as she grabbed his hand and led him towards the restaurant. She notice Petunia and mainly Vernon pretty quickly. After all, overlook Venon was damn hard if not impossible. He was an idiot, but instead of saying this, Lily put on her smile and focused on Petunia, who looked really beautiful today. "Hello guys," Lily greeted them with a smile and than stepped closer to her sister and kissed her on her cheek. "You look lovely, Tuney," she whispered into her ear.

Petunia smiled at her fiance nervously. "Thank you Vernon," she replied politely. Vernon's family was wealthy and every time she went to visit them, she was taught she had no manners, so she was trying to fix it. After all, Vernon was win in the lottery. At least that was what Petunia thought most of the time. She forgot it every time she saw her sister together with her boyfriend. Today it was just the same. Lily had special abilities, she had boyfriend who was apparently much more wealthy than Vernon's family could ever be and besides, unlike Vernon, James Patter was really handsome man. And unlike Vernon, he had eyes only for his girl. Parent were so proud of their little Lily. Petunia was nothing. And once she saw her sister and that stupid James Potter in suit she could hardly believe someone actually could afford, she wanted to kill them both again. How could Lily look so beautiful in such a simple and boring dress? Petunia felt desperate. "Thanks, you too, sister," she said casualy as she heard Lily whispering to her. Inside, she thought of ways, how to kill Lily. Her frustration was extremely high and evening didn't really start yet.

James smirked, wetting his lips as Lily took his hand, "You bet," he could only answer that, before he was in the presence of the two muggles. Petunia didn't look half bad, but Vernon looked normal. As much as he could be. And as always, he seemed to be as large as his own car. Did that man not know what jogging was... "Evening Petunia," James greeted Lily's sister, with a small smile, before glancing over at Vernon, "Dursley" he growled with his usual cocky smirk, offering the man his hand.

Vernon's eyes went wide open as Lily appeared. She looked completely astonishing. Never mind Petunia, her sister would outshine her any day. But Vernon couldn't let his woman feel unwanted. She was gonna marry him, so she needed to know she was a lady that could be better than anyone else. As soon as James spoke to him, Vernon clenched his jaw, taking the boy's hand. "Potter..." He said with a hint of disgust. "Just a reminder, this is a normal dinner. Put your little magician wand away..."

James could only chuckle, as he let his wand slide down his sleeve. "You scared of this little thing?" he teased the man, before hiding his wand once more. "I'm here to eat next to my girl and her family. Not curse her sister's fiance!" he said, narrowing his eyes, as Vernon simply let out a growl as a response.

Lily watched interaction between James and Vernon with worried look. Last time they were at dinner together, it was at Dursleys and James was still underage, so he couldn't really use the wand and it was still a disaster, maybe this wasn't as good idea as Lily thought. "Okay, let's go inside," Lily suggested nervously after few seconds of akward silence.

"Sure!" Petunia agreed before Vernon could do something stupid. Even if he knew about magic World of her sister now, he still didn't seem to fully understand it and truth to be told, Petunia didn't think he really believed it that much. After all, he never saw her sister's nor her boyfriend's abilities for real. And Vernon always doubted what he couldn't see for himself.

James grinned impishly, before nodding. "Yeah, I'm hungry..." He said turning to the restaurant and grabbing Lily's hand. "He's acting like a jackass already..." James whispered at her ear, before pulling her along so they'd get inside.

"Yes, let us go fill our bellies..." Vernon said with a brighter tone, but never truly stopped glaring at James, as he walked to the restaurant. The young boy thought he was smart. Well, Vernon maybe didn't know much about what he could do, but from what he heard, he couldn't use magic outside of his freak school. So that at least let Vernon rest a bit, even though he'd always be on edged when next to that cocky bastard.

Lovely lady expected them inside and gave him table right near the window, with perfect view on the city. Lily smiled brightly as memories of muggle London came back to her. "See James Potter, this is where your future wife spent her childhood," she whispered to him and than turned to Vernon and Petunia with intention to start a nice conversation and try to be civil, but all she found was furious look from her sister.

"You are kidding me, right?!" Petunia shouted angrily. "I just got engaged and I wanted to share this with you and what you do? You do the same! And of course, your ring must look like for a queen! Because that's just you, isn't it?! There cannot be one single day, when precious Lily Evans is not better than her sister!" Petunia said so the whole restaurant heard and than she ran to the bathroom.

Lily looked at her sister with horror, shock and sadness in her eyes. Why did Petunia have to react this way? She didn't do anything wrong. She didn't even want to tell her about her own engagement just yet, so she didn't apoil Petunia's day today. With tears in her eyes, she watched her sister leave. "Excuse me, boys," she almost whispered and followed Petunia in order to fix this mess.

James sat next to Lily, opposite to Vernon, as he looked through the window, "Tall buildings," he commented with a smile, before Petunia started to yell at her sister. What the... James asked himself, tilting his head to Petunia. As he was about to speak she ran to the bathroom, and he was left speechless, only nodding when Lily excused herself.

"You had to do it? You had to ruin her day?" Vernon asked with a growl. "This was her day. She got engaged, and she wanted to share it, and you ruined it." he kept growling, but was not as loud as his fiancee.

James narrowed his eyes, nearly flipping the table away, anger driving him, as he tried to hold himself back. "Wow, what? Excuse you? I've loved Lily like forever now and I waited a long time to ask her to be mine. Sorry'yyyy' if you think I was stalking you and simply wanted to ask her around the same time you asked her rantipole of a sister," he yelled, not caring who heard.

By now, Vernon had already got up from his chair, and banged his fists on the table, "You are both jealous of her. You and Petunia's bitch of a sister..." he said angrily, rage filling his every word.

James winked his eyes several times, before grabbing hold of his wand in secrecy. His tone was suddenly calm, as he cast a look of disgust and anger at Vernon, "What the fuck did you just call her?" he asked, as everyone around the restaurant tried not to stare...needless to say, they failed miserly, as James felt everyone look at them.

"Petunia!" Lily said as she finally caught up with her sister. "I am sorry, I didn't mean to! I didn't want to announce it today, I knew it was your day. I am sorry, you overheard that. I just couldn't say no to James, when he surprised me and proposed. You wouldn't do that either. But I planned to tell you about our engagement later, in a few months maybe. Because I know this was supposed to be your day," Lily spoke quickly, so Petunia couldn't interrupt her, but she somehow knew it won't help much. Suddenly she saw something, that wasn't muggle style at all. "Tuney? What do you know about this restaurant?" she asked carefully.

"You just ruin everything, Lily! Every single time, since you were seven, you destroyed every single moment of happiness I could think of. And I am trying! I really do try to keep our relationship, but you keep destroying every chance I give you..." Petunia started and than froze at the spot as she watched toilets splashing themselves. "Obviously not enough," she said only.

"We have to go! If James finds out, I can guarantee you, Vernon will know how the reall magic looks like," Lily said and grabbed her sisters hand and dragged her back to the restaurant, her eyes searching for Vernon and James.

As Lily came out with her sister, James was already walking to them. Vernon was nowhere to be seen, as James looked emotionless. "So...wanna know what happened..." James asked, with a mischievous smirk.

"Bitch!!! I Called her a bitch!!!" Vernon said, clenching his jaw, as the table flew over his head. James came at him, throwing him of his feet, before aiming his wand at him. "Never call my Lily that..." With several flicks of his wand, James cast several hexes at the muggle, and watched the effects with a smirk of satisfaction. Vernon's tongue was suddenly turned into a horn, before his head started to grow larger and larger. Antlers grew out of the growing head, before Vernon's nails started to grow rapidly, hitting the floor in a matter of seconds. Before Vernon could even yell, James turned him into a small rat, that ran around the restaurant before getting caught by another man with a wand.

"That's pretty much what happened..." James said after finishing telling the sisters what he had done, and holding the rat that was in fact, Vernon.
