Digging Up the Past

Rhys held her head in her hands, supporting her elbows on the table. She was exhausted and she would have been dead on her feet had she been standing. All night and well into the early hours of the morning she had stayed in the ministry going over everything she could find on Thane Divine. She didn't trust him point blank. New additions to the ministry were welcome of course but after recent events she barely trusted any of them. Least of all the newly appointed Junior Assistant.

She hadn't found anything worth incriminating him over but she knew; she just knew their was something suspicious about the bastard. Yet until she had proof she would refrain from telling the minister. That being said, she currently had a few files on the man spread before her in her little nook in the corner.

Thane was being Thane. He was having a secluded chat with a few people in a dark corner. He got up and walked past Rhys's table. He stopped dead. When he saw his name on the file. "Shit..." he said. He frowned and began to leave rather fast.

Rhys' head shot up at the muttered word and she sprang out of her chair with a curse of her own as she saw Thane walking briskly for the door. She grabbed the files, burning them in hand as she followed after. She couldn't leave them, what little information they gave anyway. She pushed out the door just as he did and before he could escape she pushed him against the establishments wall and barred his way out. "A man with nothing to hide wouldn't run Divine. So tell me, what're you hiding?" She wasn't the type to beat around the bush. Yet if she had been thinking, she wouldn't have approached him so openly. If her suspicions were correct then she should have handled this carefully or let him go to follow him.

Thane spun and chuckled. "Ahhhh Rhys...That was rather reckless wasn't it..." Thane drew his wand. He had a little rope on it that attached it to his wrist. Meant he couldn't lose it. "Look. I have a past I am ashamed of. I would rather not explore it. I am a changed man. I have family to look after....Now I left because you are reading uponme. So even if I tell you the truth...You won't believe me."

She glanced once at his wand whilst he spoke and moved her hand near her own. "Even so, if you were still not connected to this past you would have no fear of my knowing. Correct? What would I gain from something so far done?" She leaned forward a small grin forming on her face. "Unless of course... you're still involved."

Thane shook his head. "I left. I couldn't do it any more. I...I ran." He pulls up his sleeve to reavel the Mark of a Death Eater. His eyes became cold an for told of the thigs he had seen. "I stopped. I ran. I came home. A better man."

Her eyes visibly darkened at the sight of the mark. She was right at least partially right. But she didn't trust his story. She hardly thought that one would still be breathing after abandoning the Death Eaters. "You know how valuable this makes you?" She didn't know how long he was among them or if he still was but the names and descriptions they could get from Thane was too much of an opportunity to pass up. "We're going to the Ministry," she decided grabbing Thane's arm.

Thane jumped back and moved his arm. No no no no no no. You know what they wil do to me. They will send me to askaban...no no no. Not there. No ever. I would rather die.... No. Not unless you can asure me that it will not happen. If you can't. I am going to at least try and run."

"I know what I'll do to you if we don't get moving," she growled. Rhys sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose. She was tired and annoyed, never a good combination. She was close to just knocking him out and dragging him to the Ministry herself. "I don't have time for this. Look," she stopped thinking about what she could say. She didn't want promise this dirt anything. She couldn't go against Willow. If the woman decided she wanted to throw him to the dementors well then she bloody well could; Rhys wasn't going to stand in her way. Yet of course she couldn't tell the man that. "I can assure you that no harm will come to you, that is all," she stated frowning slightly.

Thane laughed. "You are lying. What do you want with me. You obviously think I can do someting or you would of stupefied me by now. And since I have my wand ready I suggest you answer this Rhys. I simply wish to look after my cousins which I can't do as a Death Eater, and I hate dark magic, it damages the soul to much for me to continue. So. Tell me. What do you want from me?"

OCC: I usualy would of attempted escape by now. I just want to see where this might go.

"You know what I want with you?" She growled grabbing the front of his shirt. "I want every bit of information in that head of yours. You're right I could have stupefied you by now but I would hardly want to wait for your unconscious form to wake up. You're already wasting enough of my time talking." She shoved him away from her with narrowed eyes. "So stop the bullshit Divine. Even as a ministry worker you're bound to use dark magic once or twice." Finished with her hotheaded rant, Rhys quickly whipped out her wand and attempted to use incarcerous.

"Protego" Thane grinned. "That was and unprevoked attack. What happens next is your fault." He moved backwards and casts a every strong Reducto at Rhys. After the casting of his spell he moved 10 meters from her then turned and faced her.
(OCC: Prefer a duel then? The only wayyou are getting anything from him is physical torture mwhahahah)

Rhys knew she didn't have time to move, she was tired rendering her reaction speed slow. But her mind was working fast enough. Coincidentally she sent the same spell and the two effectively collided in a blast of blue that blew Rhys back. She picked herself up quickly and sent bombarda maxima at his feet. She didn't want to kill that man. That being said she would have rather used her fists but he was rather far.

Kronos saw the spell and sighed. He cast the same spell again. Protego. He sighed. "Must we really do this?" He then cast a Confringio and a explosion of flames flew at Rhys. He didn't want to hurt Rhys. Just get Rhys to piss off.

(OCC: Don't worry. Your next spell can hit me so go wild. God mod if you want.)

"No we don't have to Divine, I'm doing this because it's fun," she snapped sarcastically. She raised her arm just in time to cover her face but she still got the brunt of the flames. She hissed in pain, refusing to voice anything beyond that. There were a few flames licking at her clothes, already burning threw them and she quickly shrugged off her jacket. "I liked that jacket," she muttered. "Orbis," she casted, the ground swallowing Thane up to his neck. "For Merlin's sake just come quietly." She closed the distance between them and kneeled before his head sticking out of the ground.

Thane laughed. It was a cheap trick but not much he could do. "Do I have a choice? No. So lets role" He was happy as he enjoyed fighting a lot.

She smirked slightly. He was amusing, she would give him that. She spoke the truth when she said she didn't want to wait from him to awaken from stupefy so she petrified him before levitating his body out of the ground and apparating to the ministry.

Thane knew if it wasn't the fact he was petrified. He would of killed Rhys or mortal wounded her. He was thinking though.
