Welcome Feast 1992/1993 (W)

Sitting on his chair behind the staff table, Philip watched the mirror carefully. He missed the school days terribly, because he was tired of having three little boys running around his house wanting to kill anyone they found. He wasn't exactly young so they were a pain in his ass.

As students began to pass the mirror he smiled seeing how he had done the same so many years before. Taking the sword Amelia gave him, he approached the mirror, and waited for each student to come to him.

A chill raced down her spine as she passed through the magical barrier of the mirror. Wolfclaw Academy. Nothing could prepare her for it. Briar took a surreptitous glance to either side of her. It seemed that no one was going to step up first. Rolling her eyes, chin held up slightly, Briar walked forward to show them how it was done. She stopped before the man, eyes on the sword. She raised an eyebrow. Now what's the fancy piece of steel for? She had to bite her lip to keep from asking the question aloud. Something told her it was for the sorting.

Laureth was, for the first time ever, nervous. After some sharp tongued arguments with her grandfather, she left her home with her dire wolf, Chimera who acted like a guide and a friend. Her white, unseeing eyes were covered by her hood as her hand gripped onto Chimera's fur. Walking through the mirror with help, the noises overwhelmed her in an instant. My my...grandfather was right. This will be tough. Laureth thought to herself before calming herself down, the nerves left and her inner sight showed her images of a sword and then a small glimpse of Philip Malfoy's face. She felt Chimera move her forward and she felt the presense of other people. Smells and sounds attacked her senses but making her head face the floor, she breathed deeply through her nose whilst pressing herself against Chimera.

Following his fellow, unsorted, Wolfclaw classmates through the magical barrier that hid the school from the rest of the world, Conner felt a touch of a smile toy with the corner of his mouth. He had been waiting for a year to begin his studies, but something had closed the school for what would have been his first year. Be that as it may, he had completed the studies required for him to advance to his second year. Now, he just needed to find out which of the three houses would be his.

Glancing around him, he didn't see any sign of Sin or Lethia, but he was sure they were there. Conner suspected he knew where they would end up, but he wasn't so sure about himself. Watching as the first student stepped forward for her sorting, he paid close attention to the man with the sword that would divide them into their houses. Catching movement to his left he spotted a dire wolf and a girl that appeared to be either worried or just keeping a low profile. "You ok?" he whispered to her softly as they waited for the sorting to get under way.

Laureth was simply breathing through her nose, focusing on her heartbeat and keeping close to Chimera. A presence next to her became stronger as the persons voice met her ears which caused her to tense. "Everything is a bit overwhelming...not used to this much sound." She whispered back, biting her split lip softly. She made sure not to face the, what felt like, older boy.

Glancing at her, he could understand the whole too much sound. Castles caused sound to travel and what could be only a little noise could come off as overpowering, and as he listened, he found it rather noisey, too. "You'll get used to it. Guess we all need to... Doesn't this place look amazing?" he asked in a hushed whisper, trying to help the girl relax a little.

Laureth nodded slowly. "I hope I will...I dislike headaches." She admitted, rubbing Chimera's head who liked her hand to comfort and relax her but because of Conner's question, she only tensed even more. Of emotion could be shown in her eyes, there would be sadness but no regret. "I unfortnately wouldn't know..." She whispered and let her pearl white eyes point in the direction Conner was. "I'm blind..." She explained before moving her head back again to face the floor.

Sin slipped in unnoticed her silent footsteps came up behind conner and a girl she'd not seen in years not since before she left for ireland. "Laureth" she said softly touching her shoulder.

Looking over his shoulder, Conner spotted the face he had been searching for since they arrived in the castle. But, before he could speak to her, he was floored when the girl with the wolf commented that she was blind. "Merlin.... I'm sorry....." he said sheepishly as he looked into her pearl eyes before she looked away. Suddenly the comment about sound made sense. Her hearing was heightened due to not having vision. Nice move, slick... Placing a hand on Sin's lower back, he stroked her spine with his thumb. "I was hoping I'd spot you," he whispered to her.

Laureth shook her head. "I am used to it." She said, feeling Chimera nudge her hand into Conner's and the moment their hands touched, images flashed through her mind and a face she has not seen in a long time caused her to yank her hand away. Then a hand touched her shoulder, causing a soft gasp to escape her lips. "Sinny..." She whispered, her hand meeting Sin's as she stared into the distance,

Sin smiled at Conner, then taking Laureth's hand she raised it to her lips. "I'm home Laur" she murmured "don't be scared, i'll be here to help you and conner too." bowing she greeted chimera with a kiss on the nose "hello little boy" she whispered to the beast who seemed all too pleased. Standing straight she leaned into Conner's hand "i'm glad you two met, i didnt think your grandfather would allow you to come"

Her answer didn't really help him feel better, as he still felt like an ass for saying it. But, he let it go as it truly didn't seem to bother the girl. Feeling her hand slip into his, he gave it a gentle squeeze in greeting before she pulled it away quickly. Glancing up at her and then at his girl, his eyes smiled. "You know one another?" he whispered. Looking down as Sin greeted the girl's wolf, he gave him a gentle stroke to say hello as well. "If course. Always glad to be of service as I can," Conner said to her.

Laureth stroked her friends cheek as if trying to remember Sin all over again. "You left without saying goodbye..." She whispered, pain in her voice before she pulled her hand away and placed it back at her side. The images didn't stop. "Your father...." She simply hissed and then thanked the couple in advance for their future help. "Yes we know each other...a story for another day of course and grandfather tried to refuse but you know how stubborn I am. I had to have a..normal life." She whispered into their ears.

Tensing slightly at the mention of Sin's father, even if it was just his name, Conner let out a protective sigh, and pulled her slightly closer to him, letting his eyes fall to Sin for a moment, before looking around them. He had on several occasions now taken care of her thanks to that bastard. Calming down, he looked back at the girls. "I look forward to hearing that story," Conner whispered, lightly nuzzling Sin's cheek. A small smile touched his lips as he replied softly, "We will help you to have one normal life, then." Out of habit, Conner winked, even if Laureth coudn't see it.

Philip grinned at the students speaking amongst themselves. Suddenly, the candles went out, one by one. Darkness bathed the room, and soon, the students began hearing voices inside their heads ordering them to stand in a line. They all formed such line, and the student in the front would be able to feel a cold icy sort of steel touching his throat, as the candles all lit up once again.

Laureth nodded a thanks to Conner and Sin before she heard the murmers of fellow students gasping. The voice in her mind was not unusual for her and she could tell it belonged to the man with the sword. She was right behind Briar and her hand curled up in Chimera's fur, making her quickly relax as the hood of her cloak hid her eyes.

As the lights dimmed, Conner looked around as the hush filled the space. Suddenly, he heard a voice insides his mind telling them all to get in line. Doing as instructed, Conner turned pulled Sin into line with him as he stood next to Laureth. When the candles lit the room once again, Conner's dark eyes noticed a man with a sword resting against the first girl in line's neck. Swallowing lightly, he waited for their sorting to finally get underway.

Amatus growled at one of the younger students that had almost run into him and roughly shouldered him aside on his way into the school. It was just as impressive as his parents had said and he smirked, satisfied with his family's decision to send him here.
His eyes narrowed slightly at the sight of wolf next to a younger girl and he silently moved closer till he stood right next to her. "Is there a reason why this canine is guarding you?" Amatus asked her, keeping his voice low so he wouldn't interrupt the sorting ceremony.

Feeling another presence next to her, Laureth held onto her wolf tighter. "You should mind your own business but if you must know...she's a guid to help me around." She whispered bluntly. She didn't want to say straight away that she's blind as it creeped people out sometimes. "Also her name is Chimera. Try not to call her canine again." She whispered as Chimera leaned into Laureth.

A low chuckled escaped Amatus' throat at her blunt answer. There was something off with her and what better to do than figure out a puzzle. "Chimera? Interesting name for a wolf." he whispered back, staring intently at her face. To be honest, the animal was quite interesting as well. Very calm for a wild creature, he thought curiously.
It wasn't often that he bothered with other people, but something about this girl was strange, he could feel it. "And what is your name?" Amatus pressed on, eyes still fixed on her face.

Laureth was momentarily confused by Amatus' chuckle but nodded slowly. "That it is." She could feel Amatus' eyes on her face and she made herself look towards the floor. Deep down, she felt as though he would judge her, call her weak if he knew she was blind. "Laureth Azlyn Erben." She whispered and furrowed her brow. "And who are you?" She asked softly. Throughout the hall, Laureth could hear whispers and murmurs so she didn't feel that awkward speaking.

"A remarkable name" he stated calmly. Her name was quite interesting, just like her familiar's, but then again, most pureblood wizards had special names, except the blood traitors who sometimes carried muggle names as well, he thought scornfully. Still, something about her family seemed to stir a memory in his mind, but he couldn't quite catch it.
"Amatus Servarion Rosier is my name." Amatus told her, wondering why she was still averting her eyes.

Laureth was confused as to why this boy was talking to her of all people. "Thank you...my grandfather thought I needed a...unique name." Her voice was soft and quiet so only Amatus could hear. His name caused her to stiffen and her fingers curled up in Chimera's fur as she thought of how she knew his family name but couldn't place where from. "A Rosier? Interesting. Always thought Rosier's only spoke to their kind." She whispered gently, her voice laced with slight amusement.

Amatus smirked slightly. If she recognized his family name then maybe she really knew more about the Travellers as well. He looked at her thoughtfully for a moment, thinking back to all his lessons with his father. He had told him something about the Erben family, but Amatus had thought that all there members were dead. "Maybe I think you are on of my kind..." he remarked smoothly. Amatus decided to keep an eye on this girl, just in case she turned out to be a Traveller as well. Perhaps an owl send to his father would be able to clear that up.
