Care of Magical Creatures Lesson 2

David raised his hand and said "Well it has a combination of red,orange,black and white as its color, with a long tail, kinda round head with a mane of some kind, two hind legs, and its wings, which are like a bat's, act as its front legs. Its made up of scales, with spikes on its back" He smiled slightly, his description wasn't the best, but it was good

Bruce began to slowly clap, and once he began to clap with more intensity the Dragon spit fire into the air, and Bruce grinned. "Gryffindor...has gained 20 points," Bruce drawled and expected every single lion to go into a frenzy, but decided to continue, "Very well, now we know the characteristic of the beast's appearance and its name. What about its diet?" Bruce asked afterwards.

Mio grinned at David, for now they were no longer in the negatives and spoke out to answer the next question. "They usually prefer pigs or even humans. Though they eat all kinds of mammals." he said loudly.

Rowan was stunned by how quickly the questions were being asked and answered. Perhaps the Gyrffindor house had a meeting to discuss getting points back since they lost so many in Potions. Regardless, they were doing a good job. Rowan quickly wrote down everything that was being said in her notes for later and kept her ears open for more questions.

Bruce did a 'I give up' movement with his arms since it seemed today, only gryffindors were getting points, "Correct, 15 points to gryffindor," Bruce awarded the house as he nodded at Endymion, Snape's son. He could remember the time where his father was his student. The house rivalry was much bigger, and Bruce barely awarded gryffindor any points back in the day, "What about its behavior?" he asked afterwards crossing his fingers hoping someone other than a gryffindor would answer.

Harry nodded at Ricky whom had just told him the answer and slowly made his arm rise, "The Fireball is aggressive but,...er-unlike other dragons, it is more tolerant of its own kind, and will sometimes consent to sharing its territory with up to thre-...no, two other dragons," he answered nervously.

David yet again raised his hand, a smile on his face, but lowered it when Harry answered. he was still slightly in shock..because of him, gryffindor was no longer in the negatives. The fact the professor clapped for him was another reason. These combined were why he did not answer before Harry

"Ten points to gryffindor but for salazar's sake, will gryffindor not shut up today?" Bruce asked, for once, playfully, and the beast that seemed to dominate every single person it came across seemed to finally be calm after eight years of abstinence. "Okay, one last question, and let someone from another house answer this time around," Bruce grinned, and looked at Rowan, "You, tell me aspects about the reproduction of the Chinese Fireball," he smirked at her.

Ian had been too awed by the appearance of the huge dragon to pay much attention to the questions, but his professor's clapping brought him out of his daze and he grinned at his friends for answering the questions.

Neville had moved to stand next to Harry and Ron and shrank back slightly when the creature appeared in front of them. "Oh...wow..." he gaped at the dragon, in a mixture of amazement and fear. He smiled at Harry when the other boy also answered a question. They were quickly catching up on Slytherin that way.

Looking up when Professor Carrow asked for another house to answer a question for once, her smile faded when he picked her to answer his final question. Swallowing hard, she drew a deep breath and thought about what she had read before about Chinese Fireballs and their reproductive patterns. "Ummmm.... The Chinese Fireball is a breed of dragon that generally yields females that are larger than males. They are also mentioned to be very fast and clever, at least for a dragon. The eggs of the Fireball are vivid crimson speckled with gold, and the shells are prized for use in Chinese wizardry," she answered, the confidence in her voice growing and growing as she spoke her answer. When she finished, she waited to hear his verdict on her answer.

Bruce nodded and finally liked the fact someone from another house had answered a question and correctly nontheless, "10 points to Ravenclaw," he said happily and then cracked his knuckles. The dragon leaned down and rested his head on the ground, before Bruce whistled. Flicking his wand, a ladder was created. It went from the ground to the dragon's back, and Bruce was the first climb, "If someone else wishes to fly, all you gotta do is come up here," he shouted and motioned for the students to come. His son nearly ran up the ladder and his gang, Atticus and Kain followed him. Adrastos didn't have a doubt either and jumped up the ladder, only to have Ricardo follow him. Harry winked at Ron, and the two went up to the dragon's back as well.

Mio jumped quickly at the offer of being allowed to fly on the dragon and followed the other boy's example. He couldn't believe that they could actually do this and was really excited to get into the air.
He climbed on the dragon's back and looked over his shoulder at David, Ian and Artemis to see if they were following.

David side glanced at Ian, then smirked at Artemis "see you up there guys" he winked then hurried to the ladder, climbing up. it was his dream come true, to ride a Dragon. he then settled himself between two spikes, and behind Mio, then looked down at his friends "are you coming or what?" there was enough space in between the spikes for two people, and as David was holding on to the spike in front of him, someone would have to hold on to him from behind.

Neville had swallowed hard when everyone around him had gotten up to climb on the dragon's back. To be honest, he was quite terrified of the creature, but seeing all the others do so, he pulled together every bit of courage he had and followed them.

"Let's go." Ian smirked at Artemis and ran after Mio and David to climb up the ladder. The Dragon felt really weird beneath him, but it was also kind of cool and he grinned at his friends in excitement.

Rowan smiled to herself at hearing she had received some points for her house, and, it seemed, Professor Carrow was quite pleased with her answer, too. When he made a ladder appear and told them if they wished to fly to come on up, Rowan thought about going up, but then paused. She knew she was afraid of heights, but how often does one get to ride on a dragon. Come on, Rowan.... Getting up, she set her things down and with trembling hands, climbed up the ladder and took a seat. Being on the dragon's back wasn't so bad, but they were still on the ground....

Ian looked over his shoulder when he felt someone else get up on the dragon behind him. The Ravenclaw was someone he already knew and he smiled at her. "Are you okay, Rowan?" he asked her quietly, in case Professor Carrow would mind the talking. But the girl seemed to be a bit shaken and Ian was worried when he remembered that she was afraid of hights.

Artemis watched as the questions were like a rapid fire. Seeing everyone walk up the dragon to ride, she smirked at the afraid Ember and quickly joined everyone. Wanting to be close to Atticus, she sighed softly. Grow a pair, Arty. She thought to herself and simply looked down at Ember who looked terrified of even being near a thing. Seeing Rowan's reaction to being on a dragon, she began to think. Is the dear Ravenclaw..afraid of heights? Oh my...Mio and Ian best look after her. She thought to herself.

"Ummmmm.... Ye-ye-yeah.... I'm, I'm fine....." Rowan answered Ian with a half-hearted smile and tried to find a hold that would help her feel safer before they took flight. It's gonna be ok, Rowan.... It's gonna be ok.....

David saw that Rowan seemed to be having trouble with the idea of being on a dragon "Think of it this way Rowan, we are in the safest position from a Dragon, right on its back!" He saw that it probably was not just the fright of instant death that was scaring her, it was the height "Rowan... keep yours eyes fixed on the back of Ian's sexy head. Unless you are going to spew, then turn around and spew on Artemis" he tried making a joke of it, for both his and Rowan's sakes. He liked being nice, but he didn't want Artemis to use it as a taunt later. hopefully Rowan would get the just of what he meant.

Mio looked over his shoulder at Rowan as well and his worried expression mirrored Ian's. "Do you want to sit between us, Rowan?" he asked her. That way they could make sure that she wouldn't fall off, even if she got sick or started to panic or so.

Rowan's brown eyes filled with fear lightened slightly at David's words of comfort. Granted, it wasn't the dragon that scared her.... "Th-thanks, David," she said with a small smile. When Mio offered for her to sit between Ian and him, she nodded and mouthed 'okay'. Moving slowly around so she was between Mio and Ian. Swallowing hard, she let out a sigh, pleased with herself for being able to do that much so high up. "Th-th-thanks, guys," she said with a small smile, a true smile.

Ian smiled warmly at Rowan and moved slightly to let her sit in front of him. "Don't worry, Rowan. We make sure you're safe." he said heartfelt. He really liked the girl, as she had been nothing but friendly to him and his friends in the past. Luckily the dragon's back was broad enough, so they could sit safely in the middle of the it and couldn't fall off too easily.

David traded spaced with Rowan, instead of making Ian move back at all. he then said "Same instructions Rowan, look at the back of Mio's gorgeous head, and if you feel like you are going to spew, er.. turn to the side.." he did not want Ian to get spewed on..

Mio chuckled warmly and shook his head at his friend. "Don't talk about spewing. It makes even me feel sick and I am not already worried about the flying." he said, still grinning. "Just close your eyes and take deep breaths if you start feeling sick, Rowan." Mio had turned slightly so he could face the Ravenclaw who was sitting behind him. "I'm sure you'll be fine though."

Rowan giggled lightly as David, once again, gave her insight on what to do to help her not hurl on her friends. She didn't think it would come to that as she was more afraid of falling off than anything else. Looking over her shoulder at Ian she nodded her thanks. Knowing he was behind her and Mio in front of her, she felt a little better. Turning back to Mio, she smiled and nodded, taking a deep, calming breath. "It will be fun, right?" she asked weakly.

Mio nodded, a grin still on his face. "I'm sure it will!" he agreed quickly. The flight on a dragon would be so much cooler than on a broom, it would feel much more exciting with the huge dragon carrying them. He was also wondering how fast a dragon could get and if his broom would be able to keep ip with it. Then Mio had to chuckle slightly when he thought about playing quidditch on dragons instead of broom. The game would be even more dangerous and messy then.

Bruce motioned for the rest of the class to go ahead and jump on the dragon and they did as he told them. Kain tried to jump up, but was truly having a hard time doing so. Atticus quickly used his hooks and took him up there, and smirked as he did. He then hurled one of his hooks down to the grass, where it grabbed onto the ground. "C'mon up," he said to everyone else. Adrastos, Ricardo, Harry and Ron quickly got up and then Bruce pounced up, standing on the dragon's neck. Malphas did the same and sat next to his father, before Bruce shouted, "HOLD ON." 

Atticus called back his hook, and held onto the dragon, as the others did the same. The creature swatted its wings twice before suddenly jumping away from the ground, zooming towards the sky. The dragon was as fast, if not faster than the Nimbus 2000.
