Opening Feast 1991 (Hogwarts)

Emrys stepped off the train stumbling a bit as her foot slipped off a step, a pale hand steadied her and she looked up at the blonde boy who aided her. "Thank you" she said straightening her robes. "Not at all" the boy said glancing at his brother and his two friends before looking at the girl. "My name is Draco Malfoy and you are?" she accepted his extended hand and smirked "Emrys Grimm" as they were hearded towards the boats she walked with the boys "Our families are friends" she stated "They are" Draco agreed, climbing into a boat with Draco she settled on a bench "What house are you hoping for Emrys" he asked as the boats left the dock "Slytherin" she said "though i do not hope for it, i know i am a slytherin" the boy shot her a grin "As am I"

Walking down the great hall Draco waited to hear his name called, once it was the hat did not even touch his blonde hair when it screamed "SLYTHERIN" winking at Emrys as he sat down he watched as she climbed the steps and was sorted into slytherin as well.

The girl smiled at Draco and sat down next to Malphas "told you i would be in slytherin Mal" she said reffering to his old taunts on how she would be a hufflepuff like her parents.

Chase followed the rest of the students having ridden in the faculty car with her mother. Twirling a strand of hair in her fingers she waited patiently for her name to be called, "Chase, Yaxely" grinning she stepped forward and sat on the stool, as the hat was lowered to her head she closed her eyes and smiled not a few moments passed and the hat shouted "GRYFFINDOR" hopping off the stool she struck a pose "boom baby!" she danced over to the gryffindor table and took her seat "The party can start now" she said with a smirk " i have arrrivvveeedd"

Professor Carrow led the students into the great hall, pushing the double doors open easily. The students reveled as they saw the wonders Hogwarts had to offer. Some were already sat in their usual places, as only the first years were still up. "Students, please, gather around, as we will begin the sorting," Bruce said, and his voice echoed around.

Suddenly, great silence hit the room, as Bruce was handed a piece of parchment by one of the elves that worked in the kitchen. "Atticus Black!" was the first name Bruce read out loud, after Emrys' and Draco's.

The boy walked, firmly gripping his trousers inside his pockets, trying not to think of what the hat would say. Bruce picked up the hat, holding it above Atticus as the boy sat down. The professor then set the hat on his head, "Hmmmmmm, difficult. VERY difficult. Plenty of courage, I see. Not a bad mind, either. There's talent, oh yes. And a thirst to prove yourself. But where to put you?" the hat drawled, and Atticus swallowed dry.

"Slytherin!" the hat yelled, and Bruce quickly took the hat off, as Atticus pounced away from the bench he was sitting on and made his way to the Slytherin table. As he sat, he was greeted by Malphas.

"Kain Shadow!" Bruce said afterwards, and unknowingly clenched his jaw. A shadow. Kain sat on the bench, and smirk playing across his lips. Bruce barely put the hat on him, "Slytherin!" the hat yelled, and Kain happily walked to the Slytherin table. He sat opposite to Atticus, and smirked.

Mal smirked down at Emrys and shook his head, "Thank fuck. I wouldn't have liked to have to see you in urgh...Hufflepuff!"

"Rowan Avery!" Bruce called afterwards, and his eyes widened. Stephan's daughter was already being sorted. How time had passed. 

He held the hat high up, waiting for the child to come up and sit.

Rowan jumped when her name was called. Swallowing hard, she took a deep breath and made her way towards the front of the throng of first years. Many eyes were on her, but she didn't let them bother her. Just get to the stool and get sorted, Rowan... Tucking a lock of brown hair behind her ear, she smiled up a Bruce before taking her seat on the stool. Not Slytherin.... Not Slytherin....

"Not Slytherin, eh? Are you sure? You could be great, you know. It's all here in your head. And Slytherin will help you on the way to greatness, there's no doubt about that. No?", the hat yelled with a playful smirk, "Well then, Ravenclaw!" he shouted even louder.

Rowan clenched her eyes shut as she heard the Sorting Hat muse over her request to not be in the same house as her parents. She wanted to be different from them. Not that she didn't love them, what she could remember, but she wanted to be her own person. When the Hat called out Ravenclaw, her brown eyes snapped open and a bright smile touched her face. Hopping down from the stool, she nodded and smiled up at Bruce before heading off to the Ravenclaw table. Seeing Misha, the girl she had met at the library only a few days before, she gave her a wave before sitting down and introducing herself to the others that made up her house.

Bruce held the hat once more, and he looked strangely at Rowan. How was she not a Slytherin? Being Stephan's daughter was like a sentence. She'd have to be a Slytherin, and now, she ended up in Ravenclaw. He wasn't disappointed, it wasn't up to him to feel such a thing, but he was indeed surprised. "Ron Weasley!" Bruce called out.

Ron looked over at the Gryffindor table and swallowed as his older brothers all grinned at him. It seemed like a family tradition to make it into that house. Hopefully he wasn't going to be the only one to not be sorted there. Ron took a deep breath and walked to the stool, took a seat, and waited. Seeing Harry, his new pal he made on the train ride there, he half-smiled and nodded. Hey, maybe they would be in the same house!

As Ron sat down and Bruce placed the hat on him, the hat instantly spoke up, "Ah! Another Weasley. I know just what to do with you... GRYFFINDOR!" the hat shouted, almost sounding happy.

Ron exhailed the breath he had been holding the moment he sat on the stool waiting for his house to be named. When Gryffindor sounded through the hall, he was completely releived! A roar sounded from his brothers as they cheered for him when he made his way to the table to join them. Glancing back at Harry, he grinned. Come on, Harry. Be a Gryffindor, too...

After Ron went to sit at the gryffindor table, Bruce called several more names, "Moon...Nott...Parkinson" then a pair of twin girls, "Patil" and "Patil" then "Perks" and then, at last -- "Harry Potter!" he exclaimed. The hall once again went silent, "Potter, did he say?" -- "The Harry Potter?" whispers suddenly broke out.

Harry took small steps, and then sat on the bench. He tried to close his eyes but couldn't. They remained budged open, as he thought of what the sorting hat'd say. He had seen Ron be sorted into gryffindor, and he only hoped the same happened to him. He had heard his parents were both from that house, and Slytherin just didn't seem to fit him. At least he thought that. Please...not Slytherin...

"Not Slytherin you say?" the hat yelled out, "Like I've said before, you can be very successful in Slytherin boy. Slytherin can help you on your way to greatness..." The hat drawled, and Harry kept thinking, Please not Slytherin...just, please not Slytherin...

"I see loyalty. Bravery. Ambition. Are you sure Slytherin isn't the best for you? Well -- better be Gryffindor!" the hat shouted and the gryffindor house exploded into happiness, as Harry came down from the bench. He smiled as he sat down next to Ron, opposite to Adrastos, and they looked on as the ceremony continued.

Bruce called many more names, "Wulfric Shadow," and the boy ended up in Gryffindor. "Achilles Talon", and the boy ended up in Slytherin. "Felix Grimm", who ended up in Slytherin as well. Then, "Drake...Black!" Bruce called, and then his eyes widened.

The son of Sirius fucking Black..., Bruce mused as Drake made his way to the stool. Bruce barely set the hat upon him, before it yelled, "Like your father, you're a Lion, GRYFFINDOR!"

Drake smiled as he sat next to Harry, and Bruce simply watched. That kid...is definitely Sirius... he thought with a grin.

"Artemis Calor!" Bruce called afterwards.

Artemis made her way up to the stool, and sat down, her eyes never leaving her sister. "Slytherin..." the hat nearly whispered as if he was confused. The hat had only done that on some, rare occasions.

"Ember Shadow!" Bruce called.

"Hmmm, you're not like her," the hat said as soon as Bruce placed the hat on Ember's head. "You're different. Less serious. Braver...Gryffindor!" The hat exclaimed with his usual tone once more.

Misha was busy talking with her friends from the same year as the sorting began so she didn't even catch Rowan was sorted. She waved her and quickly finished conversation so she could greet her properly. "Well hello, my fellow housemate," she whispered to Rowan from behind as she made her way under the table to sit right next to her new friend. "This seems to me like few awesome years to spend with library!" she said, excited from having Rowan with her.

Artemis furrowed her brow at the whisper but shrugged it off the moment she saw the sad gaze in Ember's eyes. Sauntering over to the slytherin table, she smirked at everyone around her and high fived them whilst some wrapped their arms around her. 

Ember stared sadly at Artemis due to the fact deep down she would not be in slytherin. When Gryffindor was called out, her heart seemed to stop. Ignoring the gaze of her sister, she ran off to the table and sat near the weasleys as they were more welcoming despite her last name.

Bruce then looked at the next name in the list of new arrivals, "Endymion Snape!" Bruce half shouted, as he held the hat high up, waiting for the spawn of Severus to come up and be sorted.

Mio could hardly keep his mouth from dropping open when he stepped into the great hall alongside his fellow students. The hall was beautifully decorated and already filled with all the older students and teachers.

His gaze travelled up to the staff table and he saw his father look back at him. Mio barely heard The teacher tell them about their sorting which would take place now, as his thoughts kept wandering to which house he would fit in best.

Finally, he was pulled out of his musings by a voice calling out his name and he walked forward to take a seat in front of everyone. He swallowed hard and waited for what would happen next.

Bruce took a look at Severus, whom was sitting at the staff table, before he carefully placed the hat on top of Endymio's head. "Hmmmmm....this one,...curious..." the hat began with a drawl, "You are so...different...from your father..." the hat continued, "Don't -- for one second -- think I took time on his choice. It was instant Slytherin. But you...you...you're loyal. You have a passion for your friends...you're not a Slytherin..." the hat carefully placed his words as he'd knew that if he didn't, Snape would probably end up being cross.

All the hat wanted to say was that this kid was a gryffindor like James Potter, but he knew Severus wouldn't take that lightly. "You remind me of your mother..." he said, and then decided to stop with the suspense, "GRYFFINDOR!!!"

The gryffindor house went into a frenzy much like when all the other first years were sorted, and awaited for Mio to join them at their table, as Bruce took the hat off his head.

Mio took a deep breath when the hat was placed on his head and he could even feel it move slightly, as if to get comfortable on top of him. He bit his lower lip nervously, as the hat started to talk to thim about his father. Mio snorted at the thought that his dad could be anywhere but Slytherin and obviously the hat did agree on that.

But when the hat turned his words towards himself, Mio could feel his heart beating hard in his chest. Actually, he thought he knew where he would belong, but would the hat agree with him?
Finally, after what seemed like hours to him, his house was called out and Mio sagged slightly in relief, a sheepish, but pleased expression on his face. "Thank Merlin..." he breathed out as he got up and walked over to the Gryffindor table to introduce himself.

Bruce cleared his throat as Endymion went to sit with the gryffindors, and looked at one of the last names. It wasn't the last, but it was very close to it. And the name, brought a warm smile to Bruce's face, "Magnus Lucin Carrow!" he called out for his son.

Magnus's head shot up with one eyebrow raised, he was close to one of the last kids on the list he knew it but his name came so fast he was short of time to think. Looking around he decided it was true that he had dozed off and missed almost the whole sorting, but now it was his turn. Magnus took a deep breath and slowly walked up the steps on e by one, he was confident that he would be placed into Slytherin his whole family had been and he saw no reason not to be. As he reached the stool he gave a faint smile to his father before turning to face the crowd and wait for the hat.....

Bruce grinned at his son and brought the hat down. He was nearly not placed on top of Magnus' head, as it yelled, "Slytherin," it shouted, and Bruce quickly brought it up. The Slytherin houses exploded and its members clapped loudly as another Gaunt had joined their ranks. "Go ahead son, join them," Bruce whispered proudly.

Magnus was not surprised about the house he was placed in nor was he disappointed. Standing up with a new found pride he begin his walk to the Slytherin table when a rather uncalled comment cut its way through the nose of the cheers from the pride filled Gryffindors. Magnus spun on his hills and gave the Gryffindor table a cruel and wicked smile before looking at the Weasley twins and staring them dead in the eyes, "at lest my table is not filled with mudblood lovers and blood traders alike." He watched as his words sunk in cutting like a bull whip.

Malphas came up from his seat and clapped, "And this everyone, is my brother. The one who ain't afraid of accusing all of you, of being mudblood scum," Mal cackled maniacally, as Bruce cleared his throat, narrowing his eyes. That was the sign for his kids to knock it off. There was a strange silence after the Gaunt brother went silent in respect for their father, but then, "Ricardo da Costa," Bruce called afterwards.

Ricky's eyes widened, as he looked around the remaining unsorted first years. He swallowed dry, and slowly made his way to the stool. Silence reigned supreme, and he was afraid that the hat would break the silence by speaking too much of Ricard. The hat truly didn't know when to keep quiet.

As he sat down, he kept his eyes budged open, and looked on, as he waited for the hat to be placed on his head.

Bruce quickly set the hat on Ricardo, and it began to think, "Hmmmm" it moaned several times before, "Ah!" and then suddenly, "Oh well...Gryffindor!" it yelled hysterically.

Ricardo's eyes widened even further, if that was humanly possible, as he hopped off the bench and happily made his way to the Gryffindor table that had erupted into cheers, even after the discomfort Magnus had caused. He sat next to Chase, and smiled at her, before looking on at the staff.
