Violet sat down in the back yard, feeling the soft grass under her naked feet. She closed her eyes to enjoy the tickling sensation while a soft summer breeze blew through her dark brown hair. Her pale face tilted upwards towards the sun and she wrinkled her nose slightly. "Have you ever dreamed of just flying away, daddy?" she asked the young man standing behind her.
Violet often wished she had wings and could soar upwards into the blue sky, past the white clouds and towards the warming sun. Just this night, she had a dream of turning into an owl and she woke up with a large smile on her face.
With a sigh, she got up, walked over to her father and took his hand to lead him back inside. He still had to finish the chess game they had started the night before.
