Just Hanging Out (Cian)

Zane hovered around on his broom, doing the occasional trick here or flying stunt there. He felt a bit rusty at it. The only time he really used his broom was to go to one of the other wizarding villages or to just take some time in the air to cool off or hang out. Today, Zane was just hanging out. The Tournament was over, which was a relief. He wished Wolfclaw had won, and still didn't understand the details surrounding Kestrel's death. Second place wasn't too bad, though.

At the back of his mind, Zane wondered if he and the other Wolfclaws would return to their school and then head home... or outright depart from Hogwarts for the summer holiday.

Cian's mind was full after so much had happened this year: the tournament, the loss of several students, his new girlfriend.... He just needed some air, surely that would help clear his head. Cian headed for the Courtyard and, upon exiting the castle and taking in a deep breath of fresh air, he started to feel better. As he walked, he spotted the familiar colors of his own house on a broom hovering. Perhaps he was another who just needed to get away from the abundance of people in the castle for a while.

Cian made his way over to him and gave a friendly wave...

Zane spotted someone heading toward him. He had to squint a little until they got closer, but he could tell they were from Woflclaw. Wait, was that Cian? He returned the wave, and lowered his broom the rest of the way to the ground. Zane hopped off and rested the broom on his shoulder. "Hey, Cian. How's it goin'?" he asked.

Cian smiled when he spotted that the WolfClaw he had seen was actually Zane. "Hey! Not bad. Glad the tournament is over. How are you? Need a little air?" he said brightly, holding out his hand in greeting as many boys do when they run into an old friend.

Zane greeted his friend and grinned. "I'm great, thanks. Glad the tournament is over too," he answered, glancing away just long enough to see who else was or wasn't in the courtyard with them. "Can't wait to get back to Wolfclaw next term..."

The teen shrugged, "It's a bit crowded in there, yeah... but mostly I just wanted to come out and fly." Zane supposed a bit of air truly did factor into why he was out here.

Cian nodded in agreement. "I'll be glad to be back home, too. However, that also means leaving my little Lassy behind," he said shaking his head and smiling. Cian ran a hand through his dark hair. "Really did na' expect to fall for any one while we were here," he said with a chuckle.

Looking at Zane's broom, Cian smiled. "I miss flying and riding the horses over the grounds... Yeah, missing home alright," he said.

Zane nodded his understanding. "Yeah... a certain Spider got to me over the Yule Ball. Wasn't expecting that to happen, either, be it from one of our classmates or the people here," he said, referring fondly to one Aerilyn Malfoy. "It's been one helluva year," he chortled.

"Let's go for a fly, then... or a race. Really get us both some air that way," Zane laughed.

Cian smiled his crooked grin. "You're on!" he said. With a wave of his wand, his broom was summoned from his room. As it flew by, he hopped on and took to the air in a tight spiral before looping back to Zane. "Where shall we race to?" he asked brightly.
