CoMC Lesson 1 - 1992

Mio smirked at David and nodded. "Is that even a question?" he asked chuckling and followed his mate into the forest. The reached a particularly dark part where many creatures could his and Mio spotted something. "Slowly..." he muttered to David and pounced on it, tackling the thing to the ground. "Yeah!" he exclaimed and looked down to see if he really had managed to catch a Diricalw...


Azrael turned to see if anyone was left over to pair up with, even if he would rather go on his own. It couldn't be too hard to catch one of these birds, but as it was, he needed a partner. "Take the bitch over there..." Cyn drawled sounding bored with the whole game and he started to look around for the girl. Spotting a fellow Ravenclaw, he approached her. "Up to work with me?" he asked her.

Junis turned calmly and looked at her house mate. "Hello Azrael. I'd like that." she said, smiling slightly at him. They strolled through the forest for a while in silence, not hurrying to catch the animals. "I really don't know how to catch them. I don't want the diricalws to get hurt." Junis said softly.

Walking beside the other Ravenclaw, Azrael let his eyes travel over the trees, picking up every slight movement in the shadows. "Let me take care of that." he answered calmly. "Girls! Typical! You can just kill the bird and drag it back!" Seth ranted in his head, but Azrael disagreed. Animals were much better companions than humans and while he had no problem with hurting people, he never raised his hand to a creature except in self defense. "I hope not, son. There is no reason to hurt an innocent animal." "Look there! Catch it!" Azrael's wand moved towards the left and he called out "Impedimenta!" and his spell shot towards the creature.

Raphael grinned and held onto the now unconscious diricawl, "Good job," he told his girlfriend kissing her lips. Moving slowly between the grass, he caught sight of another one of those beasts and whilst he smirked. Pouncing towards it he smiled as he held out his hand trying to catch it.

Adrastos and Ricardo teamed up, and with Adrastos' agility and Ricardo's strength they were a tremendous pair. As they ran deeper into the forest Ricardo pounced on top of a branch, and jumped on top of Adrastos. They both fell down, and a diricawl stood right next to them. Ricardo hushed his friend and held out his hand trying to grab hold of the bird.

Atticus and Kain moved in unison, Kain jumping over rocks and branches and Atticus hovering above him with his maneuver gear. Each one spotted a different diricawl and whilst Kain jumped to grab his, Kain hurled one of his blades at the other.

Malphas and Ares did the same as everyone else, and they had more ease travelling around the forest surely. Firstly, because Malphas had been there every night for the past four years and because they lived close to a forest themselves. Finding a diricawl, they surrounded it and each sent a dagger towards it.

Harry partnered up with Ron obviously and the two began trying to catch the birds as fast as they could. Instead of being silent, Harry whistled once, the sound being equal to those of the diricawls, something he learned in his muggle school. A diricawl whistled back at him, and once Harry saw it, sent a branch to pin it to the tree.

Catching another Diricawl Raphael handed that one to Mariya, and smirked, "We're being lucky," those words ran in his own ears. Their luck would run out eventually. Catching sight of another Diricawl Raphael pounced onto a branch then fell down towards the beast.

Ricardo growled as the diricawl disappeared from under his grasp. Jumping up he looked down on Adrastos, whom shrugged, "Was a nice try mate," Ricardo rolled his eyes and then looked up to one of the smallest trees. With Adrastos' help he jumped up and his hands latched onto one of the branches, "Just a bit more," he whispered, his arm stretching whilst he tried to grab a hold of the diricawl.

Atticus pulled his sword up holding the diricawl. Taking off the tip he sheathed his blade and as Kain got up he grinned. They caught two diricawls. Perfect, now they simply had to do it again and they'd surely be ahead. Looking to their side they only caught sight of one but it was enough as Atticus sent one of his hooks to get it.

The dagger hit one another and fell to the floor which made Malphas and Ares growl. Grabbing their own daggers Malphas flipped Ares over his shoulder and they both hurled their daggers towards the same diricawl once again.

The diricawl was hit by the branch and knocked out completely. Harry handed it to Ron and then, taking out his wand, sent a rictumsempra towards another diricawl he saw in the corner of his eye.

Looking down at his catch, Mio cheered when he recognized a small diricalw. "We got one, David!" he called out to his friend and got up to show him their first catch. Now they still had to get some more, to win this game. "Let's keep looking for more." he said grinning.


Azrael's wand moved towards the left and he called out "Impedimenta!" and his spell shot towards the creature, hitting it straight in the chest. "Now that was too simple." Corvin almost sounded disappointed, but Azrael just shrugged and walked over to drag the stunned bird towards Junis. "Here is the first, the second won't take long either." he said calmly, not really caring for points or catching the most Diricalws. He would just keep knocking them out till the lesson was over and then see how many they got. "Can we use a more offensive spell now? Pretty pretty please?" Seth whined, sounding like a five year old, so Azrael just ignored him.

Junis sat down beside the stunned bird and gently caressed it's feathers. "It's so soft..." she said, smiling warmly at it. Azrael seemed to be very good at taking aim, as he had managed to hit the diricalw through the trees with his spell.
"Do you want me to help you?" she asked softly and looked up at him with calm blue eyes.

"Help? She can help us alright...though not with the Diricalws..." "Shut up, Cyn! We don't want anything to do with the bitch!" "Silence, both of you, the girl is calm, nice, intelligent, so be quiet." Marius luckily cut in and managed to shut the two others up for a while.
"That won't be neccessary, just stay here and keep an eye on the bird while I look for some more." Azrael answered and turned back towards the thick forest. Not much later, the next bird ran almost straight into his wand and he flicked it sharply while incanting the spell again.

He fistbumped Mio "Good one Mate!" he said as he caught the animal. he then went with his mate to find more. He heard a guy using a spell, and thought maybe he could do such a spell to help, so when he saw one, he pulled out his wand and whispered "Impedimenta!" Nothing happened, he sighed and tried it one more time "Impedimenta" again, nothing happened. He sighed and pocketed his wand again, saying "I got to do this the old fashioned way" He proceed to the tree and started to climb the tree. When he had reached the creature, he looked at him, seeing him. he growled "no!" and dived for it, hands outstretched. Whether or not he caught it, he was in for a whole bunch of OUCH when he landed.

Smiling as she grabbed the Diricawl holding it close, Rowan looked up at William and grinned. "Nicely done, Rowan," he said. Taking a piece of apple, he told her, "Stay here. I'm going to go see if I can find another one." Nodding, Rowan stroked he bird's feathers and spoke softly to it. Following a trail into the trees, William spotted another Diricawl. Taking position as Rowan had, William held out the apple to the bird. "Come on. Have a tasty treat for you..." he said. As the bird came to him and ate what he offered, William, with all the patience her could muster, reached out slowly so as not to startle the bird, and made to grab it...

As Serena hit the ground, the bird vanished. "Dang it..." she said, slapping the ground. "It's ok. We'll get the next one. Come on," Lara said, helping the Gryffindor up and leading her into some bushes. Almost immediately both girls spotted another Diricawl. "You try," Serena said softly, as she stepped back to allow Lara to try her hand at catching the bird. Lara crept up behind the bird and reached out to scoop it up...

"Fuck this shit!" Seth cursed harshly and Azrael grit his teeth in anger at having missed his target. The diricalw had managed to jump out of harms way at the last second and now he had to wait again for the next bird to show itself.

Mio had to laugh when David landed right on his face, unfortunately without catching the diricalw. "Tough luck, eh?" he asked him grinning and started to chase after the animal to see if he might be able to catch it. Mio rushed around a large tree to come at the bird from the front and jumped at it.

Junis smiled slightly at her partner. "Don't worry. We'll catch another one." she said calmly, not really caring how many birds they caught. Reaching out to the stunned bird at her feet, she caressed the soft feathers when out of the corner of her eye she saw another Diricalw. Quickly, Junis pointed her wand at it and incanted "Impedimenta!".


No! The bird had escaped! Neville looked sadly at Ian, but then he got an idea. He had bought some seeds that he wanted to plant, but maybe they could use it to draw out some more birds. Showing them to Ian he said "I'll take them over there and you wait behind the bush for one to come out okay?"
Ian nodded and hid, his wand pointed at the area where they hoped a bird would come and after a few minutes one approached them, so he fired off a hex, hoping to catch the Diricalw.

David groaned as he faceplanted. "Shut it Snape" He snapped as Mio laughed at him, he rubbed his face as he watched his friend go after another one of the little devils, suddnely growing a strong hate for them. He wasn't about to pull THAT stunt again to get one.

(I swear to god axel you rigged that so he would faceplant >.< lol)

As the Diricawl got away, William sighed with frustration. He did just what Rowan did and his got away. What did she do different? Looking behind him he saw Rowan holding the one captured Diricawl. "Any luck?" she asked. "None..." he muttered, "Maybe they like you or something." Rowan shrugged and went to walk over to William when he held up a hand for her to stop. Putting a finger to his lips telling her to be quiet, he point to her feet. Looking down, Rowan all but laughed at seeing a Diricawl looking at her shoes. Reaching down slowly, she went to scoop up the soft bird...

As Lara secured a grip on the bird, Serena cheered softly so as to not scare the birds away. "Good catch, Lara!" she said brightly, giving the bird a pat. "It's so soft..." she mused. Lara couldn't help but chuckle. "Why don't you try for the next one?" she said to the young lioness. Serena nodded and asked if Lara had any fruit left from their first try. Nodding, she handed over a few and watched as Serena went looking for the bird. She was just rounding a bend up ahead when she heard a sound behind her that made her freeze. Turning slowly, she spotted a Diricawl following her. "You shouldn't sneak up on people like that," she mock scolded the bird softly. Getting on her knees, she held the grapes out in her open palm for the bird. Timidly it approached and began to eat what she offered. Sticking her tongue out in focus, Serena made to scoop the bird up...

The Diricawl suddenly disappeared with a pop and Raphael crashed into a line of bushes and spikes. Cursing loudly, he slowly rose, "Fuck this shit, let's get back," he told her rubbing his now cut up arms as he walked back to the clearing.

Holding onto its feathers Ricardo pulled the Diricawl making the fragile bird hit the branch he was holding onto. Letting that same branch go, he landed on his feet, handing the diricawl to Adrastos, "Enough, we got one, we'll get some points. Someone else will get more," he told his friend who nodded, as they began walking away.

The diricawl suddenly disappeared from sight making Atticus' hooks fall to the floor, unused. They returned to their own, and he shrugged, "We got two, let's get back," and Kain answered with, "May get us ahead of the gryffindors if the damn lions do what they do best. Nothing."

The diricawl only had time to turn back before the two daggers sliced its head off. Malphas and Ares called their weapons back and picked the body up, "We're going to keep going," Ares suggested and Malphas smirked nodding. Jogging close to another diricawl, Ares climbed Malphas up and jumped off his shoulders rolling in the air trying to land right on top of the diricawl.

The diricawl fell flat on the ground and Harry smiled handing it to wrong, "No giving up!" he then ran forwards before coming to an abrupt stop. Hiding behind a tree he looked around it and aimed his wand at the beast, and uttered once again the rictumsempra spell.

Sitting in the clearing with some of the students that had come back empty handed Bruce awaited the return of the more intelligent and keen students that would actually be able to catch at least one diricawl, "They should be getting back by now," he mused as he began hearing footsteps from all around.

Junis sighed when her spell missed its target and got up from the ground, guiding the diricalw they had already caught towards Azrael. "I think one is good enough, so the Professor will not be disappointed." she said calmly, not overly worried for not having caught more. "Shall we go back?" she asked the older boy and started to walk towards where their teacher was waiting.

Ian and Neville looked at each other in disappointment that they had missed again. "We probably come in with the least amount of caught bird." Neville said, sounding sad. Ian clapped him on the shoulder and they walked back. "We caught one, Sir!" he told his teacher, grinning proudly. Better than nothing and it wasn't as if they hadn't tried.

Rowan sighed when the Diricawl vanished just as she was about to grab it. "Well, one is better than none, I guess," she said with a shrug. "Yeah, guess you're right. Come on... Let's head back," William replied, slightly disappointed that they only caught the one. But, like Rowan had said, one was better then none. As he two returned to the clearing, Rowan smiled at Professor Carrow and said, "Caught one." Glancing at Neville and Ian, William chuckled. "Looks like we tied," he said winking at Neville, trying to lift his spirits a little.

When Serena's arms closed around the Diricawl, she nearly squealed with delight as catching it. Hold it gently, she returned to Lara, smiling proudly. "Great job!" Lara said, holding her own Diricawl to her chest, "Let's get back. One a piece is pretty good, I think." Nodding, Serena followed her back. "Two for us, Professor," Lara said happily.

Atticus, Ricardo, Adrastos, Raphael, Mariya, Kain arrived just after Ian and Neville, holding out their own catches, "We caught two, sir," Raphael stated holding Mariya's hand, "We caught one, professor," Ricardo drawled holding the one unconscious diricawl in his hand. "And we caught two as well, professor," Kain stated.

Harry and Ron arrived afterwards with not one, not two, but three Diricawls, "Sir, we caught three!" Harry reported with an excited tone, looking around pleased with himself, before offering a smile at Neville.

David felt like, after Mio's fail attempt, it was time to return. "Come on, at least we caught one Claw." So he left empty handed, expecting Mio to follow him.

Mio nodded and followed David back to their professor where he stopped next to Ian and Neville. "At least we caught one." he said and shrugged at them. They might not have won, but at least they got some points for their house.

Azrael fell in step next to the other Ravenclaw, the Diriclaw right behind them, and they walked back to where they had started from. "We caught one as well, Sir." he stated and then fell quiet.

Bruce nodded as all students seemingly returned and cracked his back, smiling, "Alright, for each diricawl you get, your team will get twenty points, ten points per member. So just do the math," he told them and then, noticed only Harry and Ron had caught more than two beasts. "The winners of our little game are Harry Potter and Ron Weasley," he announced, "They caught three diricawls. That would earn them sixty points. However, they won, so their points will be doubled, giving their house one hundred and twenty points," he told the class and then, turned to Neville and Ian, "You were the first team that actually caught a number of diricawls to get here. So you get to pick the next beast," Bruce told them, waiting for their pick.

Ian cheered for Ron and Harry, even though his house would get the least amount of points. He clapped Neville on the shoulder when they were told to choose the next beast. "Any idea?" he asked the other boy, but Neville quickly shook his head, hoping that it was something like the Diricalws today. At least they were not dangerous. Ian frowned in thought for a few seconds then remembered something Mio had ones suggested. "Could we learn something about Lethifolds, Sir?" he asked his teacher hopefully.

Bruce nodded remembering how a student had once also suggested that beast, which meant more than just one gryffindor was looking for it, "Very well, next lesson shall be about the creatures named Lethifolds," Bruce said with a wink, "Now go rest, this game may have exhausted many of you. Class dismissed," he grinned waving his wand once.
