On The Case (Alastor)

Anora walked swiftly up to Alastor's office she wanted to talk to him about the whole issue with Jericho's suspension among other things.. This had to do with a bigger picture she just knew it and she had to be in on it. There was something terribly wrong going on and the Jericho's case was just the start..

She held in her arms many case files she had start, many missing people files, others were murder cases. Those she found the missing person, they were dead, killed by torture and the killing curse. Many of these people were muggle-born or had belief the Muggles, Muggle born, half blood, pure.. it didn't matter.. and they were disappearing according to her investigations it couldn't be coincidence... Now with what happened to Jericho and the minister possibly being corrupted.. There had to be something going on and she wasn't going to stand around looking stupid either..

Anora knocked on Alastor's door and waited to be allowed in.

Alastor flew over houses, tracking the man floating in front of him, in his broom. He avoided all the spells he could, narrowing his eyes. The man entered a bell tower, exploding it from the inside. Alastor avoided all the pieces of the wall falling down. He knew this was Malfoy. And with Abraxas sick, he knew who this was. He was gonna catch Philip. Nothing would stop him down. Or so he thought. Philip turned back, and came right after Moody.

The Auror held out his wand, swinging it repeatedly. "Reducto!" He shouted, as Philip avoided all the spells. He arrived right in front of Alastor, as Moody caught his sick smile. He swung his wand, as Philip knocked him down. Still having that smile, the shadow dissipated into the air. Moody fell of his broom, as he clenched his jaw. With another swing of his wand, the wand came crashing down even faster, as it hovered right next to Alastor. He grabbed onto it, and focused on his office. He disapparated in the middle of the air, falling through his desk.

As the door knocked, he held down a shout, "Come...in!" He said, not being able to get up just yet.

Anora heard a big crash as she waited for entrance, What in merlin's name is he doing in there?... she wondered to herself putting her hand on her hip. It was only his office right? What could he possibly be doing?

At the belated come in, she opened the door quickly curious to see what was going on,"Alastor? what was all that racket?" she asked, before really taking in to account Alastor was laying on top of his broken Desk as if he had fallen on it.  How on earth had he managed that? Knowing Moody she dared not to ask.

"Is this a bad time Alastor?" she asked as she walk up beside him, a mix of curiosity and mild concern in her eyes.

Alastor rolled his eyes slightly, pushing the wood of the desk out of his way. Slowly getting up, he groaned, clearing the dust of his coat. His arm wasn't in the best state, as it was twisted when he fell on the desk. He put his hand on it, hiding the pain. "No..just close the door." He said, grinding his teeth. He pulled open a cabinet with his other hand, grabbing a SILVER FLASK. Opening it, he drank most of what was inside. "Wiggenweld Potion...good for something..." He said, as his arm began to flex more normally.

Anora observed him for a moment after closing the door behind her, he appeared only banged up, but he had to have been up to something. Weather it was her place to ask what it was remain to be seen. " I should hope so, been shameful waste of galleons otherwise" she commented as she observed that the potion was doing a proper job of mending the tough auror up. She looked him over just to make sure he didn't have any lingering curse causing issues. Plus she had an excuse to look at him in even a professional setting...

"Alastor? Mind if I ask who or what you were fighting?" she asked curious who ever or whatever it was, was just as skilled at fighting as Alastor which was no small feet. She wanted to know about it.

Alastor sighed, breathing heavily, before closing the flask and placing it back on its usual place. He rubbed his temples, taking a quick look at his desk. "That won't do..." He said, as he took his wand out. He cast the mending charm, as the desk went back to its former glory.

"Malfoy..." he responded, slowly placing his elbows on the desk and staring at Anora. He was glad nothing else happened, but he really shouldn't have worried. He knew he was tough. "I caught up to him but he was able to get past me...unharmed." He said the last bit with a bit of rage.

Anora breathed she could imagine the frustration to have so close and just slip by... She would be angry to it that happen to her. And to have evaded him so completely.. they were being toyed with. She shook her head just thinking about made her angry. "Perhaps we should take a different approach on how to get him Alastor. Something less direct" she suggested as she stood in front of his desk.

Alastor was more experienced then she was on this job but everything she knew about him told her a was a very direct and bold person... She had first hand knowledge of that "Perhaps someone needs to get in close enough to him set the trap, someone he won't suspect?" She said wanting to word her plan carefully.. She wouldn't be surprised if Alastor thought of it to.. But still she was curious of what he would think of her volunteering for the job. Would he agree? or would he believe she wasn't ready? or would personal feeling influence his decision? She still realized Alastor Moody was a puzzle to her..

"I'd like to volunteer to help" she said directly and observed Alastor for clues to his opinion on the issue...

Being less direct was a good plan of course. The problem was, it was harder as well. Philip could be anywhere. Anytime. And Alastor knew he was dangerous. And knew how to manipulate people. "His approach is direct as well...I was fighting on the same stance," he responded, shrugging as well.

Alastor sighed, but nodded. Philip was strong in terms of power as well, and by what Alastor had read in his file, he was extremely experienced in Occlumency. Even casting an Imperius curse to make him come peacefully would be a hard job, because Malfoy would resist. "This guy isn't an idiot. He was able to come here, and leave. I'm pretty sure if I hadn't weakened him first, Jericho would have been in deep trouble." He explained. Jericho was a strong auror. Moody dared to say Jericho had enough potential to be right on his door. But Philip was able to take down Alastor himself, so he knew Jericho would still have trouble. There were other powerful people in the Ministry, that , Moody had to admit. Stephan and Willow being examples. And even Crouch. But Moody still couldn't be sure about anything...he wouldn't take chances with Anora's life.

"Anora..." he said only, rubbing his temples. He wouldn't let that woman be hurt. Not after what she became to him. "I understand you want in, but...it's dangerous. Too dangerous." He tried to explain.

As soon as her name left his lips she knew what he was going to say and she looked away, perhaps another downside to being with her boss was he has the power and motive to keep her off cases like this.

"Alastor.." she started debating weather to Voice her full thought or not, and tried to convince herself it wasn't because he thought she was weak or incompetent no... he couldn't think that. But still they were in the wrong profession if he was afraid of his girlfriend being hurt.

"It isn't just about the Malfoy case Moody, I think it is connected to a bigger picture somehow, something is coming. People are disappearing without a trace and nothing adds up" She said showing him her case files for the missing people. Most of them were Muggle-borns like herself. "Some  I managed to find, though they were dead, murdered all with convenient dead ends as to who so far and for those still missing and those dead only thing any of them have in common is their blood. Muggle-borns,  half blood of muggles.. list goes on. And with the recent inclusion of a certain minister and a friend of ours." she paused meaning Jericho and the Minister herself. That was the connecting piece to this being the lull before the storm.. Something was very wrong

"All I am trying to say is.. something is happening and if they continue the way they are it won't matter if I am on this or not" she stated.. was she nervous hell yes.. She already had a "mudblood" label on herself by frigging Umbridge ..

"Sorry I was over it all night... It might not even make sense" She said awaiting his reaction.. "I just want to do something Alastor"

Alastor rubbed his eyes, and sighed. Even if Philip was connected to someone. Or something. It was way too dangerous for an inexperienced auror. Anora would be killed as soon as Philip caught her scent. Alastor wouldn't let that happen. Any other case. Any other. But that one...it became personal to Alastor when Philip messed with Jericho.

"I've been paying attention," he stated. Many thought he was so deep into this case, he forgot about everything else. All those who thought that were wrong. "You're a muggle born. If Malfoy or anyone else found this out, no matter what happened, he'd kill you. You'd be dead before being able to speak..."

Alastor was trying to explain that Anora would be in deep trouble. If this was something that was part of something bigger, there were even more powerful people than Philip behind him. "Do you have any idea on what to do?" He asked, trying to at least hear everything Anora had to say.

Anora bit back a groan, slightly frustrated to not be allowed to help now that she knew what was going on.. She wanted to argue, to bite a comment back at him that she wasn't a sitting duck. At the same time she wondered if maybe he was right. To be killed before she could even fight it, for no reason or purpose at all.. the thought made her feel ill. "Moody.. I would hardly go up to him with a "Muggleborn Auror" sign trapped to my forehead" she settled for a more slightly indignant comment instead and folded her arms.

"If you insist Moody I will go back to the missing people case, likely lead me to something.. But if I can at least learn more about this Malfoy to help is get his capture.. I would volunteer. I would be under disguise, half-blood I.D and trust me Moody I can act and be who ever it takes, it would be a reconnaissance mission nothing more" she explained.

"I know the risk Moody, we all take it don't we, when going after a dark wizard? This one just as more balls and brains apparently.. then the others" she said though unhappily since it felt like she complemented the bastard they were out to get. But he was still just a man.. surely he had a weakness to exploit somewhere..

Alastor rolled his eyes slightly. He was Anora's boss, and could say no whenever he wanted. Of course she wouldn't be happy, but he was thinking about her safety. At the sound of her comment he shook his head. "Well, tell me how many dark wizards have contacts in the Ministry? We both know even the Minister is up to something...nothing is as easy as it looks!" he responded, using the most logical thing he could use.

Alastor started to ponder. This case was special, and he wouldn't just let anyone get in it. He had turned out an immensely high amount of aurors who tried to help so he and Jericho could deal with it alone. But now that he was suspended, he needed someone to act as his partner in the case. At least, officially, since Jericho was still helping him.

He rubbed his temples, and shrugged. "Fine...." He started, breathing deeply. "I'll let you in." Alastor brought Anora to him and looked deeply into her eyes. "BUT...Do not get in trouble! Call for help whenever you need it. I'm letting you in, but I'm not letting you take care of all this alone. Understand? I'll be around you. You may not see me, but I'll be there."

Anora thought for a second, he was right of course the man they were searching for had contacts she was hoping if she played her right he would have no reason to mention her to any of them. She sighed and sprouted her own saying she had learned throughout her life "I never said I thought it would be easy Alastor.. Nothing worth doing ever is I believe" She said returning his gaze.

She nodded in understanding to Moody "Understood, and I expected nothing less Alastor, Somehow I am not surprised you watch my back" she commented and it was true she was not surprised not in the least. "You'd watch everyones back in something like this.." she said she would under no illusion he was giving her special treatment. Even at the moment it was obvious he did care about her more than that.

"I won't let you down" she promised though it was more a hope in her heart.. it would be so humiliating if she did. She had to succeed now..
