Books Tell All Empty Books Tell All

Post by Alexis Gamp Sat Feb 01, 2014 3:25 pm

Alexis added yet another book the the pile that was growing in her trolley. She was looking forward to the new school year and finally had the chance to buy her supplies. As she walked down an aisle that contained mostly fiction books, she stopped in her tracks. There, on the shelf, was the most beautiful book that he had ever seen. Her fingers danced down the spine, before she pulled it from it's place.

She didn't know what story the pages held, but she didn't care. She wanted this book. Holding it in her arm as she pushed the trolley to the counter, Alexis smiled. She would have something to fill her time with for the rest of the summer holiday.

The line before her was long, so she leaned against a nearby desk. She knew that her mother would have scolded her for not standing up straight like a lady should, but thankfully the woman wasn't there. She had been taken to Diagon Alley by a House Elf and was allowed to wander the streets to buy her own supplied with a small pouch full of gold.

Why is there so many people!? she thought, growing impatient. A few people around her turned to look and she realised that she had spoke aloud.

Books Tell All Empty Re: Books Tell All

Post by Guest Sat Feb 01, 2014 3:40 pm

Victoria was another one of the people who enjoyed a good book. So instead of staying home, she decided to go out, and buy a few books to add to her Library at home. Of course, though, there had to be a hundred of people that thought exactly the same thing, for when she arrived at Flourish and Blotts, there were just... too many people.

Sighing, and knowing that this would take quite a while, she smiled a little to herself and looked around for new arrivals, or for anything interesting. She picked out a few books about Astronomy and Divination, two of the subjects she was good at, and then moved to the upper part of the store, looking around to see if anyone was watching, before moving towards the part where there were books for... darker subjects. She picked out two that were mentioning spells and jinxes, and three about potions.

She then made her way to the line that was getting longer and longer. She couldn't believe she had stayed when she saw how many people were in here, but she couldn't leave those books. Not now.
Sighing, she blew some hair out of her face as she waited in line, right behind another girl. There was murmuring, people talking about their day and word, and other stuff, when a voice broke that little chattering.
Tori's eyes landed in the girl in front of her and she smiled a little.
"Haven't your parents taught you about manners?Being rude isn't something a Lady should do."

Alexis stood still, her back straightening as she realised what she'd said. She hoped that the people who had turned would look away, but then she heard somebody else speak. While the words that she spoke were true, Alexis started to laugh. The fourteen year old looked over at the girl who couldn't be much younger than herself and said, "Oh, who wants to be a 'lady' at my age, anyway?"

She walked closer to the girl as everyone returned to their idle talking. She noticed that the girl had a collection of books of her own and Alexis smiled, "So you like to read, as well?" She looked at the special book that she had found and then showed redhead the cover, "I was just shopping for my school books when I came across this. Isn't it lovely?" The Ravenclaw didn't want to seem like she was desperate for attention, but she was genuinely interested in starting a conversation with the girl who have previously broken the silence.
