Alexis had been waiting for her eleventh birthday for as long as she could remember. She had been scared that she didn't have magic, since she never had any of the accidental magic that the other children her age did. She also knew what would come along with being a squib.

So on the morning of her eleventh birthday she debated if she even wanted to get out of bed. To go down to a letter would be amazing, but to go down to find none would be heartbreaking. It wasn't until she heard her mother call to her that she finally got up.

Alexis walked out of her room and down the stairs, still pajama-clad. The walked was purposefully slow and her eyes were downcast. Stepping into the dining room where she knew her parents would be waiting, she refused to look up.

"Happy birthday, Alexis!" Her mother said, sounding both excited and relieved. It wasn't until it was waived right under her nose that she saw it. She couldn't stop the wide smile on her face as she read her name is neat green script.

"I got in?" she whispered, before giving her mother a huge hug, "I got in!"
