A litght in the darkness. (Cian)

Jocelyn was sitting outside on a bench in her dress and her winter coat to keep herself warm. It was cold outside but Jocelyn liked it for once. She couldn't stop thinking about what happened in the forbidden forest, was it really an accident, what would have happened if she didn't followed them, would she know about his death. Deep in thoughts Jocelyn noticed she had tears rolling down her cheeks. She was so confused and all what was left of him was his ashes she carried with her since Kronos gave it to her and her plan was to hold it with her everywhere. She blamed herself for not spending so much time with him. As more tears were falling, Jocelyn looked up at the sky. "Why is this so hard..." She spoke silently and only for her to hear.

Cian had just dropped Azaria off at the bottom of the stairs leading to Ravenclaw Tower when he decided to got outside for a bit of fresh air after a night of dancing. He walked through the doors and took his coat, formally draped over his arm, and put it on. It had been a wonderful night. He walked, hands in his pockets and just breathed in the night air.

As he entered the Transfiguration Courtyard, he spotted someone sitting on one of the benches. As he made his way over to the person, he noticed it was Jocelyn, still in her dress and winter coat. Cian didn't recall seeing her at the Ball. As he got closer he saw her look at the sky and the moonlight shimmered across her tears. Cian stopped, taking his hands out of his pockets. He didn't like to see girls cry... He took off towards her at a jog, and when he reached her, he dropped to a knee in front of her, putting his hands on her upper arms. "Jocelyn, what's wrong?" he asked quietly as he looked at her, his brown eyes filled with worry.

Jocelyn looked at Cian's brown eyes, she looked away and back at him. She took a deep breath before she decided to tell him. "I saw my brother got hit by a spell who was accidently fired. He was at the wrong place at the wrong time and he...........he........died." More tears streamed down her cheeks. She felt sadness washing over her and all she could think of was Dante and what if.

Jocelyn closed her eyes, crying. "Why my brothers, am i being punished for something i did. It was not their time to go, i wished i could do something but i can't and it breaks my heart. What if i'm cursed and some lunatic kills my other brothers as well? I can't live with that." she rambled and sniffed, ruining her make up for the second time. Jocelyn looked at Cian, she was in love with him since the first time she developed feelings for him but she didn't dare to tell him.

Cian's jaw went slack as he heard her tell him of her brother's death. Two in one year... He took his hand and gently wiped her tears away before sitting on the bench next to her and putting his arms around her, holding her to him tighly. He stroked her hair, resting his cheek against her head. "I'm so sorry to hear that, Jocelyn. I really am. You aren't cursed, nor are you being punished for something..." he said softly to her as he let her cry into his chest. "It's like you said, he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. It's something that can happen when working with magic," he added. Cian put a hand under her chin and raised her face to look at him. She really was very pretty, and as much as he didn't want to admit it to himself, he felt for her, but he didn't want to get too attached as he would be leaving when the year was over. He clenched his jaw as his brown eyes looked into hers, fighting with the emotions he was feeling for her.  If she feels for you, what are you going to do, Boy-o? You could make it work, and you know it... he thought to himself.

"As much as you wanted to do something, you remembering them now and holding them close to you now is more than enough. They will always be with you, in your mind and you heart, Jocelyn," he said, taking his thumb and gently wiping away another tear. He managed a smile for her, "So, if you think about it, they are never very far from you." He let her chin go and pulled her close to him once again. He could smell the faint scent of her perfume, and it made him smile.

Jocelyn got pulled in his arms and sh cried in his chest. Jocelyn heard him talking in a soothing and calm way, she relaxed a little bit and as he told her how she was not cursed and how her brothers are always with her, She pulled out of his hug and looked at him. "Cian, thank you so much for being here with me, if it wasn't for you, i would do something to myself. I.....have been......" Jocelyn looked at him, his smile and his eyes, the butterflies flying around her stomach. "I'm in love with you, from the moment you helped me meditate, i wish i was walking down the great hall with you. I was so jealous on that girl..." Jocelyn stopped and widened her eyes, she pulled herself up almost tripping over her own dress. "oh my gosh, i'm sorry...." She ran her hands through her hair not knowing what to do.

Cian's eyes hardened when he heard her talk about possibly hurting herself, but then softened when she confessed that she would be alright since he was there for her. He ran his fingers through her long hari and smiled, "I'm glad to hear that, Jocelyn. I wouldn't want you to hurt yourself. Nothing," he paused for emphasis, "is ever that bad," he finished with a smile. Then, he received a shock... I'm in love with you... Cian sat there stunned as she told about when she fell for him and her feelings at seeing him with Azaria at the Ball. So, she was there... he thought.

When she stood, almost falling over herself, Cian just looked at her. Then he looked away, thinking, quickly. At her appology, Cian looked at her and stood. He put his hands on her hands and pulled her to him. He put a hand under her chin, raising her face to his, and held her hand with the other. Cian looked into her eyes and smiled before kissing her gently on the lips.

Jocelyn got pulled to him. "I didn't had the nerve to tell you and...." She was stopped by his kiss, her first kiss and it felt so real, so soft and gentle and everything Jocelyn liked about him was in that kiss. She closed her eyes and enjoyed this special moment. When she pulled away she blushed and smiled at him. "Does that mean you like me back?" She asked curiously.

Cian smiled softly at her question and brushed his the back of his fingers over her cheek that has blushed a pink to match the lovely dress she was wearing, "Aye, aye it does. It's crazy, but I never thought I'd find someone here of all places. I didn't know if you felt for me, and didn't know what I would do if you did. But now, I think I know." He took her hands in his and looked back at the castle and then at her, "Jocelyn, I know I'm leaving at the end of the year, but I believe that we could make this work if you would be mine." He smiled gently, and waited for her answer.

Jocelyn smiled at him. "Let's make this work even if i have to write you an owl everyday, i will. I'm sorry i didn't want to look jealous, the other girl looked nice though and i'm a terrible dancer anyway." Jocelyn shrugged looking into his eyes. "Thank you so much again for being here, i didn't know if i would be alive when i would return, there is so much pain inside of me and i can't let that out not even with meditation and i want it so badly." She said looking away from him.

Cian could understand her feelings. If he had felt that strongly for her, he might have been envious, too. He held her hand and then took a step back so he could see her in the moonlight. Her dress was lovely, a very flattering color on her. Then he had an idea. He took out his wand and conjured a silver chain. Then he tucked his wand away and removed the silver ring he wore on his pinkie and slipped it onto the chain. "Here," he said clasping the chain and ring around her neck. "Now you have a little piece of me no matter where you are, for when owls and such just aren't enough," he said gently lifting her long hair from under the chain. He took one of her hands in his and kissed the back of it and bowed slightly, "I know we are outside and there isn't any music, but we have the moonlight. May I have this dance?" He held the slight bow, looking at her with his soft eyes, waiting for her reply.

Jocelyn looked at every movement Cian made and when he gave her his ring she was sold and she knew deep in her heart, Cian was her savior. "Thank you." She smiled through her tears, happy tears. Cian asked her to dance and she felt flattered. Jocelyn bowed lightly like a real lady. "You may." She said to him. She walked closer to him and let him lead the dance as she was a terrible dancer. "I suck at dancing with a partner." She laughed.

Cian smiled and held her one hand in his and placed his other on her waist. As he began to lead her in a waltz, he smirked at her comment of being a poor dancer. "You're doing fine. Just follow me..." with that he danced with her around the courtyard. He spun her out away from him and back in and even twirled her under his arm. Then he pulled her close and continued to dance, smiling at her the entire time.

Jocelyn smiled as she was led by him, he twirled her around and back to him. All the way she was smiling and forgetting what happened in the past, she enjoyed that moment. When they were close to each other she commented on his comment about her dancing. "With a leader as you, i can't possibly suck at dancing. When i was younger i accidently stepped on my adoptive mother's toe when she learned me how to dance, she stopped teaching me afraid that i would break her toes." Jocelyn smiled at that thought and leaned with her head on his shoulder.

Cian couldn't help but laugh at Jocelyn's story. "Well, you haven't stepped on my toes yet and I'm leading you in a dance with more than just swaying back and forth," he said brightly. As Jocelyn leaned on his shoulder, he kissed the top of her head and rested his cheek against it, holding her close and slowing the dance to just simple footsteps. He was truly happy.

Jocelyn smiled as Cian laughed at her story. "Ohh come on don't laugh at me, i was like seven or eight years old. Okay it is funny. You are a great leader so that i'm dancing with you and didn't step on your toes yet means you can dance. Cian, you know dancing here with you is perfect and i wish no other thing right now." Jocelyn pulled her head up and looked in his beautiful brown eyes. "You are very special, from the moment you learned me how to meditate i knew it. Thank you." Jocelyn kissed him.

"Well, my mother told me that every man should learn to dance. So, I've been dancing for as long as I can remember," he said as he spun with Jocelyn. It was one of the things he enjoyed doing, really. Dancing. Cian smiled, "You're welcome." As Jocelyn kissed him, he moved his hands to her jawline, cupping her face, holding her as he returned the kiss. This one was special and he could feel it. Cian didn't just fall for someone at the drop of a hat. So, being that he had been struck by cupid's arrow, so to speak, with her, there was more to her than met the eye. All he wanted was to keep her safe, care for her, make her happy, love her... Yes, most definitely love her.

Jocelyn smiled and as he deepened her kiss she felt the butterflies fly around in her stomach, this very moment couldn't no one take away from her. It started to snow. Jocelyn hugged him after the kiss and laid her head on his shoulder. His scent smelled perfect and the snowflakes falling down made it even more romantic.
