The Yule Ball 1977

Azaria was happy that Cian thought she was beautiful. He offered her a gorgeous white rose, and she took it from him. "Thank you. It's beautiful," she said. He took her hand, which was shaking a bit. She took a deep breath and tried to calm her nerves. She had never been to any kind of dance before, but there was a first time for everything.

Morgan blushed lightly and looked away shyly at his compliment of her and that she should wear green more often. She had thought about it, adding more green to her wardrobe, but, there was just something about blue that she felt it belonged there more than green. As they entered the Great Hall, Morgan looked around and smiled at the decorations. This night was going to be something else. They made they way to Morana who was alone. Morgan went to her and hugged her, before holding her at arm's length and saying, "You look stunning, Morana. Absolutly, beautiful. Where is Barty?"

"Thank you," Morana gave Morgan a smile. "You look amazing as well," she replied as she observed her dress. It was really quite beautiful and for the very first time, Morana actually felt like this colour fit Morgan much better. She was simply Prince, it was easy to say. "Barty has some unfinished bussiness with his father, so I have to wait," she replied and the word father mentioned with disgust in her dark, husky voice.

Cian smiled, happy that she liked the rose. As he took her hand, he noticed it trembling. He took her hand and placed it in the crook of his left arm, keeping his right hand on top of hers in a comforting fashion, and began to escort her to the outside of the Hall where he had to wait for further instruction as a Champion. On the way there, he said, gently, "Don't be nervous. This is going to be fun." He looked at her and winked. "Your hair is lovely, by the way," he said.

Azaria was shocked that Cian even noticed her hair, as most men don't tend to. She was happily surprised though. "Thank you," she said softly. She thought about what he had said about not being nervous. "You're right. This is going to be great. I'm glad I have you to call my date," she said sweetly. She knew that they would have to wait a few minutes before they could enter the Great Hall, since Cian was a champion and they had to enter last. She stood patiently, looking at all of the other couples as they walked in.

"Thanks," Morgan said in reply to Morana's compliment. When she heard that Morana's date would be a little late due to unfinished business with his father, and the tone she used when mentioning that, Morgan managed a small smile. "Well, I do hope he doesn't keep you waiting too long," she said as she wrapped her arms around Rabastan and restes her head against his chest, hearing his heartbeat under her ear. "It would be a shame if he missed you all dressed up as you are," she added with a bright smile.

Morana watched Morgan and Rabs with smile as he pulled his arms aroung her, imprisoning her close to him and kissed her on top of her head. "Don't worry, like I know him, he is alredy nervous, because he hates when I am without him somewhere. Specialy in dress like this," she smirked at memory of her jealous and possesive fiance.

Cian found a nice place to stand and wait that wasn't too crammed with other Ball-goers. He looked at his date and smiled, "And, I'm very glad that you said you would come with me. It's no fun going to these kinds of things alone," he said. He looked around and waved at a few of his housemates. "I'm glad you kept me in the dark about what you were wearing," he said, teasing her. "It made for a nice surprise when you came down the stairs," he added. Azaria was a sweet girl, and he hoped that just making small talk with her would help ease her nerves. After all, they were going to be entering after everyone else entered, so all eyes, for a moment or two, would be on her.

"By the way, beautiful. I have something for you," Rabastan whispered to Morgan as he kissed her on top of her head. He pulled something out of his jacket. It was black velvet box. And he handed it to her. "Every princess needs a crown after all," he whispered to her as he opened the box and hoped she will like it.

"I'm glad you liked it," Azaria said. Her nerves had practically disappeared, and it felt nice to be free of worrying for a little while. She knew that her and Cian, along with the other champions, would be the first ones on the dance floor. She hadn't ever danced in a formal way before, but she was pretty sure that she could handle it. Cian would help her along, of course, and if she messed up, it was something they could all laugh about later. She felt freer than she had in a long time, and she could wait to walk through those doors.

Morgan closed her eyes as she felt Rabastan's arms tighten around her and he kissed the top of her head. When he told her he had something for her, she looked up at him and then at the velet box he held out to her. She took it and gently opened it up. Every princess needs a crown, after all. Morgan smiled and bit her bottom lip happily as her eyes fell on the silver tiara adorned with green gems. She looked up into his eyes and put a gentle hand to his cheek before kissing his lightly. "It's wonderful, I love it. Thank you. Would you do the honors?" she said holding the box towards him with a smile and a glimmer in her dark eyes, allowing him to crown her.

Elija walked lasurely into the great hall where most students of both schools already gathering. He had to admit that it had been decorated very beautifully and would surely make the children enjoy the ball even more. Looking around, Elija noticed that no teacher had yet arrived, so he kept to the shadows, only obserbing the students for signs of misbehaviour. Quite often, they would decide to put alcohol into the drinks and such was of course forbidden for the younger ones.

Rabastan smiled. "With pleasure, lady Morgan," he said as he gently took tiara into his hands and even more gently placed it onto her head. It fit perfectly, which he was really proud of. It was actually Morana's idea to buy something for Morgan and he had to admit, it was really good idea. "Now you look simply perfect," he said as he placed his hand on her cheek and looked at her before he kissed her.

Severus looked around as the hall slowly filled up with people and stood slightly straighter. nodding at those he respected and ignored those whom he didn't, which was the majority of course. He turned to look back at Selena. "Would you like something to drink? I saw that they have some butterbeer over there." he said and pointed across the hall to where are few people where standing.

Morgan closed the box after Rabastan removed the tiara. As he placed it on her head she smiled as it fit perfectly. She gazed into his eyes as he said she was now perfect. Her dark eyes softened as he placed a gentle hand on her cheek as looked at her before kissing her. She placed her hands on his chest as she kissed him back. She was, indeed, very happy.

Kiara grinned and took her place beside Evan glad he seemed to approve of her look, "Hey you look nice to, of course" she hardly expected not to look dashing. "Thank you, yes it is bound to be interesting evening, I can feel it" she said accepting the glass was a wink. She had certainly gained confidence since she and Evan met, amazing when one great flight around the grounds would do. Though she did still possess a bit of the blush that plagued her the day they met . She chuckled and smirked at Ferox and Damien.

"Honor to meet the both of you and don't worry, I think I got handled" she said as she at glanced Evan smirked she felt she could stand up to him should she need to, as confident as she felt right then, for the moment though she thought he was quite the gentleman she that suited her just fine.

Selena smiled warmly at Severus and nodded. "Yes, that would be great. I love butterbeer, we definitely have to go to Hogsmeade one day and share a pint." she said with a grin and waited patiently, as he got another drink for them. She noticed Morgan and her boyfriend and smiled at how happy they looked.

Severus walked through the hall and got two new drink for himself and Selena. He wondered when the champions would open the ball and they music would start. He might not be the best dancer, but he knew that Selena loved to dance and would try his best to keep up with her. He passed his cousin and her date and greeted them. "Morgan, you look great." he told her and nodded to Rabastan. "You got lucky."

Morgan broke the kiss with Rabastan when her cousin's words reached her ears. She looked at him and smiled, a pink blush warming her cheeks. She actually felt like the lucky one. She had been found, in her darkest hour, by the young man at her side. She could have asked for more. "You look pretty dashing yourself, Severus. Who is the lucky lady?" she asked as she noticed he carried two drinks with him.

Kol turned around seeing Luna walking up to him with a smile, he smiled at her not getting his eyes off her. "Hello beautiful, you look stunning." Kol said to her. He took her hand and kissed it before kissing her cheek. He led her to an empty table. "Do you want some punch?" He asked her.

Evan smirked, somehow proud that his date stood up to his brother and put his arm around her waste. "Trying to charm me, young woman?" he asked her chuckling. "I just hope they will open the dance soon, otherwise we just have to do it. I don't want to be sitting around here all night long." he commented with a slight frown. He wondered what the teachers were waiting for.

Ferox chuckled and inclined his head slightly. "I see you picked well, brother. Are you a pureblood, Kiara?" he asked her, his voice serious. It was an important question for a family like the Rosiers and he would have to have a talk with his brother should she be a mudblood.



Severus smiled at his cousin and then turned his head slightly to hide his blush at her compliment. "Thank you, I'm here with Selena." he told her. "I need to thank you, Morgan. I remembered your words and decided that I really was feeling more than just friendship and it seems that she feels the same." Severus looked back to where Selena was waiting for him and shot her a smile.

"Thank you. You look great as well," Luna greeted her boyfriend. "And I would love to," she added with smile to his question.

Morgan's smiled beamed as she went to her cousin and hugged him gently so as to not spill his drinks. "I'm so happy for you both," she said in his ear. When she looked back at him, her eyes weren't the dark blue they had adopted, but the light normal grey-blue they had always been. She looked over where he was looking and spotted Selena. She smiled and waved at her. Then she went back to her date, as she took his hand, her eyes darkened back to midnight blue. "I really am happy for you both. Glad I could help," she added with a little wink an a smile.

Kol filled her goblet with punch and one for himself and he handed to her. He sits down and looked around. "Do you still like it here?" Kol asked her. He didn't like it much, he was more used to Wolfclaw with the mysterious corridors and the classrooms.

Severus hugged his cousin back and smiled when he looked into her bright blue eyes. Right now she looked like the girl he had grown up with and not like the pureblood princess she now was, even though that look fit her well, too. "Thank you Morgan. Well, I will let you enjoy the evening with your date. Take good care of my cousin, Rabastan." he said and winked at them before walking back to Selena. "Here is you're drink, Sel." Severus handed her the glass with a smile.

Selena smiled as she watched from afar how Severus talked to his cousin. Morgan really was a great girl and she knew that Severus cared a lot for her. She waved back to Morgan and waited till her date returned to her. "Thank you, Severus. Your cousin looks very beautiful tonight, doesn't she?" Selena said smiling.

Ah no date, contrary to how the rest of the school seemed to insist upon handling the event. Hardly an issue to Sora, as he wasn't exactly interested in any of the people in his school. That he'd met, anyway...

He casually moved over to the punch bowl and helped himself to an almost overflowing glass. He didn't mean to pour that much, but he figured he may as well drink it before someone bumped into him and it spilled. While he did that, he watched the rest of the students over his glass, locating each one and wondering how they could all be so blissfully content with their most likely mundane lives.
