Surprise, Surprise

When the feast was over and everyone was in their appointed places for the night, Celania left her dorm. She slid down the banister of the winding staircase to avoid noise and traversed out into the corrider. She followed the familiar route to the office of the defence against the dark arts proffesor where she knew her mother would be. She was hoping to catch her alone, as she didn't think she could sit through another meal wondering. She didn't bother knocking on the door and opened it. If her mother was in there then she would have heard her coming before she was even near the door.

Dellen lounged behind her desk a glass of wine in her hand, sipping it delicately she looked up as her daughter came into the room "Hello sweetie" she said with a smile "how are you?"

She smiled slightly and closed the door behind her. "I'm fine, a bit tired," she plopped into a chair. "I didn't expect that you know; the tri-wizard tounament. A little heads up would have been nice." It wasn't said with anger, in fact she was pleasantly amused. "And our guests, I didn't expect them to be so," she waved her hand, unable to find the word.

"Intimidating?" she prompted as she went to pour some tea for them both "I wasn't supposed to tell" she smiled "do you plan to enter?"

"And acting as if we are inferior," she said hotly remembering the three girls. She breathed a sigh and pushed away her anger. Celania shook her head with a grin, "I'm not ready to forfeit my life or be in a position to be severely injured again. I think I'll sit back and spectate thank you." She leaned back in her seat. "Truthfully I don't care much for glory although the tournament would prove exciting."

"There shall be events through out the year not to worry" she said passing a cup of tea over to her "and wolfclaw tends to have that effect"

"I've seen many effects it seems to have," mischief sparking in her eyes. "A friend huh?" She said after a moment.

Pincing the bridge of her nose she looked up at her "you noticed?"

She laughed, "I'm surprised no one else did." She grinned, "But really? The headmistress of Wolfclaw? My, my mum, that I did not expect." She leaned her elbows on the table like an excited puppy.

"It was a long time ago sweetie theres nothing left between us" she said

She gave a rather unlady like snort. "It sure didn't look that way from your end." Her voice softned. "You can tell me you know. You must still feel something." She taped the ring on her mother's finger. "You're still wearing this afterall and I can only assume its from your time with her.

"She doesn't love me child" she said running a hand through her hair "She doesn't feel, Amelia has long since erased all trace of emotions...I am but a posession to her"

Celania frowned, "But that's not..." her voice trailed off. She couldn't began to process such a relationship. "You don't deserve that," she mumbled heatedly. How could someone just let go of everything? "What happened to you two?" She asked quietly. Amelia couldn't have always been like that.

"that is a long..long story" she said sighing heavilly now exchanging her tea for a bottle of vodka.

She gave her mother a hard look, prompting her to get on with it.

"..Amy and I met when we entered wolf claw together. We were best friends and sisters, when we were young women we were turned together and left to die in a cellar. We fed off each other to survive and spent the next few centuries running together. We fell in love along the way and for a time it was good but like everything good, it must fail"

Her mouth twisted into a short grimace at hearing how they were left. She leaned back slightly, placing her hand over her mother's and waited for her to continue.

"My precious girl" she said looking at her with exhaustion "I'll tell you everything one day but this has been a hard day...Just know she is still my friend and I may ask her to be your god mother..just in case soemthing ever happens to me"

She sighed, "I'm sorry that I brought it up." Celania squeezed her hand before letting go. "Nothing's going to happen to you," she quietly but firmly. She would admit that she was scared of that emotionless woman and couldn't imagine her as a guardian. But what scared her most was just the thought of her mother's death. She leaned forward and pecked her on the cheek. "I'll leave you then. Goodnight," she said standing and walking to the door.

"Celenia?" she said as she watched her go "your the best thing thats ever walked into my life, I love you baby girl." she wrapped her in a hug and smiled smoothing down her hair and kissing her forhead.

She couldn't breath for a second and she buried her face in her mother's chest to hide her watery smile. Not even her birth parents had said that to her and it meant more to her than she could say. She pulled back and swiped at her eye. "I love you too." She relunctantly slipped out of the hug and opened the door. "Good night," she said quietly and slipped into the corridor.
