Kail Jade looked up from where he was reading his favorite novel to see his brother Damien standing in his bedroom doorway. "Last I saw it, it was under the living room couch. Have you looked there?"

"I've looked there, I've looked outside, I've even looked in Carrie's room to see if she'd taken it in there, but it wasn't there." Damien Jade replied, running a hand through his hair. "Are you sure it isn't in here?"

"No, Damien, I didn't take it. Now would you please leave me alone? I'm trying to read here!"

Damien was just about to make a smart remark back to his younger brother, when four-year-old Carrie toddled into the room, a toy niffler in her hand. She giggled when Damien tried to take the stuffed animal away from her, then ran out of the room. There was a loud 'thump' a moment later, then a screech of pain--she'd obviously fallen down. Damien shot a disgusted look at Kail, then went out to comfort the little girl. Kail rolled his eyes and resumed reading, a leisure that he hadn't been able to engage in, what with all of his school work and all. This was something he hoped would soon change.
