"I don't understand why my parents haven't owled me." Elisabetta commented to her friend as the two walked down the corridors to their next class. "Normally when I tie someone's shoelaces together, I get a Howler the next morning."

"Don't complain, Elisabetta." admonished Sophia Hudsmore, a willowy blonde who was in the same house as her friend. "Maybe you can tell them that that kid made fun of your nose or something like that--not that there's anything wrong with your nose." she added hastily, as Elisabetta frowned at her. "Look. All I'm trying to say is that you should be glad that you didn't have to be embarrassed in front of the whole school this morning. That's good enough, isn't it?"

"You're right. It just feels weird, though." replied Elisabetta, as they entered the Transfiguration classroom and sat down at a desk in the middle of the room. After unpacking their books, parchment, quills, and ink, they looked at each other again.

"Did you finish that homework she gave us a couple of days ago, Betts?" Sophia queried, blushing a bit. "I--er--was too busy doing other things, and I forgot about it."

"I think I finished half of it." Elisabetta replied, then laughed quietly. "Undoubtedly I'll get a Howler for this, too, just watch and see. I'm getting used to those things, I think. I might open the next one I get and then put it next to one of those first-years over there. That should draw a laugh from people."

"As long as you aren't locking them in broom closets, that's fine with me." replied Sophia.

"Aw, but that's even more fun. You should hear how they scream for help." Elisabetta said, smirking.

"That's awful."

"Yeah, I know." grinned Elisabetta, as the professor entered the room.
