Character sheet from
Charlotte Burke
Name
:
Charlotte Sayre Burke
Jobs
:
Student
Personality
:
Before arriving in England, Charlotte was a kind hearted girl who was eager to help those in need. She tended to be reserve though could become bubbly and talkative to those she would become close to. However, having been in hiding from her father for so long she tends to not trust strangers. Since returning to England Charlotte feels alone and frightened and she tries to hide these feelings so they cannot be used against her. She is still kind and wants to one day be a healer but she is far less honest about her thoughts and feelings. Charlotte does not want anyone to use her fears or hopes against her. A quick way to get to Charlotte’s heart is to make her laugh. Her sense of humor is more akin to the American sense of humor and bordering on the absurd as opposed to the dry physical humor of the United Kingdoms. She loves animals and has a wonderful green thumb and a love of creating art. While she might seem meek and unassuming, Charlotte has strong feelings about what is happening in the wizarding world and in her personal life. She would not openly rebel at this point but she does enjoy taking small rebellious acts to assert her independence from the Burke family.
History
:
Eighteen years ago Rosin Sayre, daughter of the UK Sayre house, was forced to participate in an arranged marriage into another Pureblood house, Burke. Rosin Sayre was not pleased with the marriage, though hoped to at least get along with her husband after a time. This never happened. Her husband was cruel, power hungry, and most of all very controlling of everyone in his life. Rosin felt like a prisoner in her own home and only found comfort in one of her husband’s servants, Johanna Forst, who was a squib from a German wizarding family. The two became fast friends and then slowly more over the course of eighteen months. Rosin and Johanna dreamed of running away together but never made ant real plans until the day Rosin discovered she was pregnant. Pregnant, Rosin did not want to raise her daughter with her husband and instead decided that they would need to run. Rosin and Johanna waited until Rosin’s husband left for a meeting to run. Rosin was only a few months pregnant. They left on foot at first so as not to be tracked. The lovers swiftly left England and moved to Ireland where Rosin gave birth to a little girl named Charlotte. The Burke family was furious that the child was taken so pursued them. Rosin, Charlotte, and Johanna fled to Europe’s mainland, moving frequently to avoid the Burke family and their reach. When Charlotte was about seven years old Rosin and Johanna made the decision to move to the United States to hopefully permanently hide their trail from the Burke family and to flee the wizarding conflict taking place in Europe. The US part of the Sayre family helped the family with the move, though kept their distance as to not to draw obvious attention to them. Charlotte had a happy childhood in the United States and she loved both of her mothers very much. As she grew she became wary of strangers and rather dependent on her mothers and cousins. Johanna and Rosin took a chance and enrolled their daughter in Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Going to school away from her family was hard at first but Charlotte flourished there. She particularly enjoyed learning about healing, plants, and animals. Tragedy struck when Rosin died unexpectantly shortly after Charlotte’s fifteenth birthday. It broke both Charlotte’s and Johanna’s hearts and it brought the two closer together. Charlotte finished out her year at Ilvermorny but over the summer Johanna decided to take Charlotte to Germany to visit her side of the family with the possibility of staying there since Johanna had no personal supports in the United States. Charlotte was sad to leave the United States and hoped to go back but was excited to meet her other mom’s family. However, while there, the Burke family found them. In a desperate attempt to draw the Burke family away from Charlotte, Johanna tried to distract them by running and leaving Charlotte with her family in hiding. This plan failed and the Forst family was slaughtered, though Johanna’s fate remains unknown to Charlotte. Charlotte was brought back to England to live with her father and his family.
