Unexpected Events (Barty Crouch Sr.) Empty Unexpected Events (Barty Crouch Sr.)

Post by Dolores Umbridge Sat Sep 28, 2013 2:26 pm

Dolores had a bit of free time, and she had been meaning to have a discussion with the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement for some time now. She hadn't actually attended the announcement, but she had her sources. She wasn't going to let aurors use unforgivable curses if she had anything to do with it. Especially not with mudbloods running around the auror department. It wasn't something she could possibly let happen, and she wouldn't stop at anything to get her way.

She approached to door to Bartemius Crouch Sr.'s office and knocked confidently on the wood.

Barty sighed loudly, staring out the window of his office. He looked down on all the officers down at the atrium running around, busy with their own lives. For once, Bartemius had some time for himself. First time in years that had happened. But going back home to spend time with his wife would seem rather unorthodox since he was still in his work hours. And he respected his job. He had to stay put and not do anything. Even if that bugged him. But alas, it seemed something had come up. "Come in..." he answered, not bothering to turn to see who it was. Whomever it was would present himself if he or she didn't want trouble. Bartemius had to be respected. That's what kept the Ministry strong...

Dolores heard the man's voice behind the door, and she pushed it open. She kept her normal, arrogant attitude. She walked into the office slowly, then said, "Good afternoon, sir." She assumed the man would know who she was, though they hadn't been properly introduced. Most people had at least seen her before, or heard of her, so he couldn't be any different.

Bartemius recognized the shriek of the woman that had entered his office. Dolores's voice couldn't be confused with anyone elses. "Hello Miss Umbridge...to what do I give the honor of your presence?" he asked, turning his back to the window, and making the door behind the woman close. He pulled his chair back, motioning for her to sit down in front of his desk. "Please, sit!"

Dolores smiled at the man. "I came to discuss something about the announcement you made recently," she said as she sat down. "I can't say that I agree with the decision." She out her hands in her lap, not showing and ounce of anything but confidence.

Bartemius should've figured. It had to be about work. Well what else could actually be expecting. He was still in the Ministry. "You mean the announcement I made two months ago?" He asked, not even bothering to try to budge a smile. "I believe it's necessary. Miss Dolores, twenty officers were killed. Right here in the Ministry. I couldn't overlook that..." he responded honestly.

Dolores shook her head. "I understand, but some of your aurors are entirely unqualified to be trusted with such power," she explained. She hoped the man would understand what she was saying. She couldn't stand seeing aurors allowed to kill and torture whoever they wished. Their judgment couldn't be trusted.

Bartemius placed both of his elbows on his desk, entwining his fingers. "That's why those aurors are gonna have other, more experienced Aurors looking over them. Aurors like Young and Moody. I have a system ready for this..." he stated, trying to explain Dolores his idea. Of course, he couldn't just let the new aurors use the curses without anyone watching over them. It'd simply be dangerous. But he trusted all the other aurors completely.

Dolores was beginning to get irritated. She kept her composure and said, "I understand, but they better take a close eye to them. Especially that one Rosemen girl," she said. She had had a misunderstanding with the girl a few weeks ago, and she had been keeping an eye on her ever since. Something was up with that girl, and Dolores wasn't going to give up until she discovered what it was.

Bartemius smirked only slightly, nodding at the pink clothed woman in front of him. "She'll be monitored by Alastor Moody himself I assure you!" he said, passing his hand through his grizzly hair and clearing his throat. "Taking that decision was a arduous job I assure you, but was truly the best move I made. Azkaban has a been having a lot more dark wizards arriving there in these past two months."

Dolores nodded. "That is good to know," she said. She sat in silence for a moment, realizing that there was no changing his mind on the subject. "I am very sorry if I was interrupting something," she said. "It was just something that I needed to speak with you about. I wanted you to know my opinion." She knew she might have been interrupting, as everyone had their own business to do.

Bartemius wet his harsh lips, before speaking once more. "I thank you for coming to speak with me." she said. He was glad someone had come to him to let him know about their opinions. How else could Bartemius know what people thought. He wasn't some sort of seer. "Dolores, if I may call you that, I ask of you to come visit me every time you wish to let your opinion be known." he stated lastly, adjusting his tie.

Dolores sat up a little straighter, proud that the man seemed to value her opinion. She smiled her flashy smile and said, "Of course." She then stood up from her chair. "Well, I'm sure you and I both have important business to attend to. It was nice talking to you, sir," she said as she walked towards the door.

Unexpected Events

"Dolores," Bartemius said abruptly. He stood up out of the blue, sighing. "Would you mind keeping me company? I never have much time for myself, and now that I do, I seem to be alone!" he commented tiredly. A hard truth he had to face. When work was done with, he couldn't do much else. Exactly why he had to make sure he did his best while he still had something to work with...

Dolores turned around when she heard the man's voice. When he asked her to stay she wondered what he had meant by it. Surely he couldn't be thinking the same thing she was, but then again what if he was? Would it really be so bad? Dolores had spent her entire life doing nothing but work. It couldn't hurt to take a break for once. She only had so much time left. "Of course, I can stay," she said.

"Thank you..." he said with a small sigh, opening one of the cabinets under his desk. He took out a bottle of Dragon Barrel Brandy, taking away its cork with his fingers. He took two small glasses out, and placed them in the desk. "Would you like a drink Dolores?"

Dolores nodded. "That would be lovely," she said to him, smiling. Her suspicions were slowly being confirmed, but she wasn't going to make any moves. If she did, there was still the chance that this was just a friendly conversation, and she could seem highly unprofessional. That was her worst nightmare, so she just kept smiling as she took the glass from the table and sipped from it.

Barty picked up his glass, as banners of Willow Noble's face covered his window. He took a sip, sighing. "Did you hear Dolores? A muggle mall was destroyed by death eaters the other day. We were able to cover it up, but what if it happens again..." he asked whomever was hearing, taking another sip. How the world was changing...

Dolores sighed. "I don't see how I wouldn't have heard of it. I've been drowning in paperwork and meetings because of it," she said. She wasn't complaining, after all it was her job. She wasn't completely worried about the Death Eaters, but she knew every one of her coworkers were, especially Bartemius. "I'm sure we can take care of it. The Ministry has dealt with many bad things in the past, we can do it again," she said.

"We sure took care of Gellert Grindelwald, but only because Dumbledore helped. Good thing he's still here..." Bartemius said, praising the headmaster. It wasn't usual of him, but what he said was quite correct. Maybe, Dumbledore was gonna be the one who'd defeat this...new dark lord. Bartemius took another sip, this one longer, before refilling his glass. "Don't be afraid to pour more for yourself!" he said, a bit more brightly, before drinking once more.

Dolores nodded. "That is true," she said. She had here own opinions about Dumbledore, but she didn't feel that this was the time to share those. She reached across the desk and refilled her glass. She had never been one to drink a lot, but it felt right. She took a sip before saying, "I feel like all anyone ever does around here is work. I haven't taken a break since I was still in school," she said with a bit of a laugh. Her laugh had always sounded so odd to her, as it wasn't a sound that normally came from her mouth.

Barty smirked as Dolores admitted that Dumbledore was an artifact the Ministry had. He knew what was right, and what to do to achieve the victory of the right side. He then was able to snort as she spoke about how busy she was, "Which I suppose wasn't that long ago, since you still look so young," he teased Dolores with his words, drinking another glass of Brandy.

Dolores smiled a bit, almost blushing. "You aren't to bad yourself," she replied. She hadn't thought ofherself as young for years, but she enjoyed the compliment. She wondered if he actually had interest in hr or if he was just being kind. Either way she couldn't ignore it. She took another sip of her drink and leaned against the desk.

Barty chuckled as Dolores complimented him as well. It wasn't properly customary of Barty to actually flirt with other women, but Dolores wasn't exactly a young skank. If others saw them talking, they'd actually dismiss it as simply business. But truth the matter was, maybe Dolores could offer Barty some distraction. He drank another glass, shaking his head rather fast. "Did you have many boys after you in your Hogwarts days Dolores?" Bartemius asked, placing his elbows on the table, and holding his face with his hands.

Dolores looked at him, still smiling. It was obvious at this point that this conversation was more than simply colleagues having a drink. He was flirting with her, and she actually liked it. She didn't think anyone would have been able to guess it in a million years, but it was happening. "I had my fair share of love and heartbreak in my school days. Though I can't say that continued after I left Hogwarts," she said. "And you?" She wasn't sure why she was so curious, but she had to ask.
