Coffee and Paper (Opened) Empty Coffee and Paper (Opened)

Post by Guest Wed Jul 24, 2013 12:40 am

Anora Rosemen Walked into a coffee shop for her cup of coffee which she sorely needed, well for the sake of the people around her anyway she was unbelievable grouchy before her first cup of Coffee.

She got her Coffee and the daily prophet and sat down at a table near a window so she could keep watch over the happenings outside. Anora could a bit pessimistic on a good day and outright paranoid on a bad day. This was a medium day, cloudy and the face of some wanted criminal on the front page of the prophet they hadn't managed to catch yet.

"Bloody hell..." She muttered under her breath.

Steven, simply put, needed to get away from children for a little while. More specifically, he needed to get away from the teenage students. His students didn’t exactly need his attention at the moment, and quite frankly some idiot house-elf made the day’s coffee far too sweet. And so began the escapade for a decent cup of coffee! He was next in line behind a witch dressed in the colors of an auror. Just great...

With a sigh he ordered his coffee and a lemon-filled pastry. While Steven wasn’t officially on a side in the coming darkness, he was curious about the auror’s business here and took a seat at a different table not that far away. For all he knew she was there for approximately similar reasons as he... but it was that burning curiosity, if even for a single flicker of a second, that caught his interest.

Some would call Steven old, at the age of fifty-five, but his hearing and his mind were both still sharpened to a fine point. He caught the young woman’s mutter, and smirked. “That’s why I don’t read the news anymore... Just another fool looking for attention, if I’m seeing that correctly from here.” Steven tilted his head up and squinted to peek at the front page. That first bit was actually a lie, as he had read the Daily Prophet before even going down to the Great Hall for breakfast. And sure enough: the front page mentioned a wanted criminal still at large.

Steven twisted a corner of his pastry off, and popped the piece into his mouth. “A shame the bastard hasn’t been caught yet... Thought he would’ve been, by now.”

Anora blinked and lifted her head from the paper and to the voice talking to her, She wasn't sure what to say to his comments, and she tilted her head and gave him a look at his tone. She didn't like it, it just rubbed her the wrong way.. He sounded very mocking.. and she wasn't in the mood for it.

" Hmm he will be caught soon.. " she stated with a frown  as she folded her paper and put it down in favor of picking up her coffee.

"Can I help you sir?" she asked in a cold voice, not many simply would come up to an auror and talk about their job.. She didn't even know the creepy looking man.. Somehow she got the feeling he wanted to bug her. She took a sip from her Coffee wishing  it was fire whiskey now...

Steven arched an eyebrow at her statement. He was amused he’d struck a nerve so easily, but acted as though he hadn’t noticed. “That so? Well... bet he’ll be surprised.” The wizard took another bite of his pastry, and a sip of his coffee. Finally, a beverage that wasn’t so over-sweetened to the point of being syrup!

Both eyebrows lifted next, when Anora spoke again. Steven’s expression settled into a small smirk. “This certainly would be an odd place to randomly approach an auror to report a crime, now wouldn’t it?” he chortled, keeping an unfazed air about him. Oh, he heard the chill in her voice loud and clear. It amused him. “No, I merely heard your remark and became curious what the quiet fuss was about. As I said: I don’t read the paper.” Steven emphasized this by slightly holding his arms out at an angle to each side, displaying the fact he was indeed without a copy of the periodical.

“Have a name? Or a rank? Something to name you by, other than some obvious but insensitive label?”

Anora still wasn't sure what to make of the man and quirked an eyebrow at him, he hadn't done anything foolish really just that tone of his voice grated at her. Perhaps she was just being grouchy.. but she didn't care. The guys was putting his big crocked nose into her business when it was obvious she wasn't talking to him.

She said sighed and nodded to him, "Anora Rosemen, call me Rosemen" she said her face neutral as she took another sip of her coffee. He already seemed to know she was an auror. She wasn't about to tell him she was a new one.

"And who are you?" she asked merely returning the question.

“Miss Roseman,” Steven repeated with a nod, then took a sip of his coffee. Something told him she wasn’t much in the mood for conversation. He was the same way, when he was deprived of his morning coffee. This particular morning, however, provided just the change of pace for him to make an exception. He wouldn’t push the envelope too far... only just enough.

“You can call me Yaxley,” Steven smirked. He moved his cup just enough to swirl its contents. “Do you specialize in a particular field on the force, Miss Roseman?” The wizard appeared to be genuinely curious.
