Azaria walked through the halls, with no particular destination. She carried a letter in her hand, but she was too afraid to read it. It was from her mother. The last time she had seen her mother was when she had first received her letter from Hogwarts. Her family believed that all magic was evil, and they kicked her out. Her mother hated her. So why would she be sending her a letter?

Azaria paced back and forth for a moment and finally opened the letter. She closed her eyes, but eventually let herself read the letter.

Dear Azaria,

You are probably very surprised to be reading this. I would like you to know that we have not changed our views on your kind.

Azaria cringed at the sentence. She made the words sound like "her kind" was awful. She couldn't stand it. She continued reading.

But that said, I want you to know that you are still our daughter. We may not want want to, but we love you. That is why I want you to know that we will be moving away from our house in Ashbourne. There are too many memories inside that house, and we need to leave them behind. Please do not return, for we will not be there. I can't tell you where we are going, so please do not ask.

Love,
Your Mother

Azaria wiped the tears away from her face. She had finally realized how twisted her family really was. They had to leave the house the so many generations of her family had lived in, so they could escape her. She couldn't say that she loved them anymore, and she hated it. She sat in a corner and stared at the ceiling for a long time.

Kiara walked down the corridor her book bag in hand she was in a particular good mood since she actually managed to get a date for the ball after all. She was in such a cheery mood the thought of doing homework didn't even dampen her spirit. She was going to go to the library when she stopped having spotted Azaria in the corner and and it seemed like something was wrong. She walked over to her new friend curious and concerned.

"Aria? you okay" she asked walking over to her.

Azaria saw one of her two only friends walk up to her and ask if she was okay. She shrugged. "I just don't know, anymore," she said. She truly didn't. Her family hated her, and now she couldn't even try to return to them. She loved Hogwarts and magic, but she didn't consider it home. She didn't know what she considered home now.

Kiara tilted her head and bit her lip, that didn't sound to encouraging and translated her answer to no, she was not okay. "Want some company? I got a opened ear to listen if that will help?" she asked setting her book bag down and sitting beside Azaria.

" Have a bad day?" she asked concerned over what might have happened Aria struck her as bit of a sensitive girl.

Azaria wasn't sure she wanted to talk to anyone, but if there was one person she could talk to, it was Kiara. She wasn't sure how to explain everything without going crazy, but she thought she would try. "You see, when I got my letter, my parents kicked me out. I spent the whole summer leading up to my first year living with friends and trying to make my way to King's Cross. I live at Hedwig's now, but I didn't have any place to go before then. Then I got this letter from my mother saying that they moved from our old house so that I couldn't find them," she explained. She felt like she didn't have any more tears to cry, which was an awful feeling.

Kiara didn't know how parents could just kick their child out and Aria was a nice girl, it wasn't fair. She patted her hand on Azaria's shoulder. "I am sorry Aria, that so isn't fair and they are being stupid" she said finding such a person heartless. Her father would call such parents lazy cowards for not giving the extra effort to to be there for their child when they are different and need the the most.

"If it helps at all, over the holiday you can come to my place? you'd be welcome there I promise" she said wishing to help a little bit.. "I know it wouldn't be the same but.." she trailed off as it was all she could do. She felt bad as her parents has essentially abandoned her, she at least wanted her to know she still had somewhere to go.

"My Dad won't mind, and my Step-mum would likely be glad to have someone so well behaved around" she said trying to give her a smile.

Azaria smiled a little. "That sounds great, Kiara. Thank you," she said. She was happy to have such a great friend. She didn't know how to thank her, but something told her that Kiara didn't need too much thanks. Azaria smiled and laughed a little.

Kiara giggles and hugged Azaria, she didn't know how her friend did it. If she was left behind by her family she would be a wreck. " Your welcome Aria, what are friends for?" she said with a smile. Hopefully she could get her a new broom by then.

Azaria hugged her friend back. "Exactly," she said. She was in a much better mood after talking with her friend.

Kiara grinned and tried to change the subject, "Now is the rumour mill wrong or did I hear you got a date to the yule ball?" she asked with a friendly smirk on her face. She was really happy looking forward to the ball now that she had friends, and a date herself.

Azaria grinned at the mention of the Yule Ball. Her date had asked her just a few days before. "I did. His name is Cian. What about you? I heard you're doing pretty well yourself," she said and poked her arm playfully.

Kiara grinning, "Cian? isn't he one of the Champions in the tournament?" she asked finding it ironic Azaria was one of the champions dates with her opinion of the tournament.

She blushed still having not gotten used to the idea that the older boy was interested in her. " Yeah.. Evan, from Wolfclaw to. he asked me the other day" she said sheepishly.

Azaria understood why Kiara would second guess her date being a champion. She had very strong opinions of the Tournament, but she really liked Cian. "He is. I know, it's surprising, but he's really nice," she said.

Kiara said her date's name was Evan, though Azaria hadn't met him. "Evan? I don't believe I've met him, but I haven't met many of the Wolfclaw students. You'll have to introduce me," she said with a smile. She never thought the two of them would both be going with Wolfclaws. Her life seemed to be full of surprises lately.

Kiara smile and giggled, it was true a kind heart could melt her friends most stubborn opinions "Well I am glad you found someone decent" she said really glad, she really hoped Cian continued to be nice to her. Kiara nodded at her wanting to meet Evan, even though she was slightly nervous at the thought, as Evan seemed to be a bit focused on blood status.. and with how sensitive her friend was on the issue she might have to talk to him first. "Sure I will see if I can find him some time, so long as I can meet Cian to" she said with a cheeky grin.

Azaria smiled. "Of course," she said. She knew Cian would love to meet her friends, or friend. "So, do you have your gown yet?" Azaria had picked her gown a few weeks ago, and she couldn't wait for everyone to see it.

Kiara nodded, it wasn't anything extravagant but it would do the trick, "Yep, I got one, I got it before I got the date" she said with a chuckle. "I don't think it is anything to fancy.. but I think it will do for the ball."

It was just a little black thing, she wasn't much for dresses but she liked them and new how to make them work even if they were simple.

"You have one right?" she asked in return.

Azaria nodded. "It's something I made. Well, I didn't completely make it, I just bought it and fixed it. I love it though," she answered. She couldn't wait for the Ball to come, which she found humorous since she didn't even think she'd be going when she first heard about it. She felt like nothing she planned on doing was happening this year, but she couldn't decide if that was good or bad yet.
