How much do you hate me? (Artemis)

Lavender hadn’t sought out anybody in over two weeks, but she knew that out of everyone there was one person she most wanted to talk to. She’d been avoiding almost everyone else for months, but this one person had always been there for her and she would never be able to avoid her. Not since the night that they sat together and mourned the true death of their childhoods together. Artemis had surely heard of her break up by now, and although she felt that her friendship with the Slytherin was independent of her relationship with David, she also knew how protective she was of the boy. She hadn’t told Artemis that she was coming, but instead had sat down a few meters from the place that she knew was the entrance to the Slytherin common room. The stone floor was cold, but she didn’t know how long she would be waiting and she didn’t want to stand for hours. As it were, it had only been half an hour since she’d sat down that the Slytherin common room opened and she looked up expectantly, hoping for it to be the girl she was seeking.

Artemis had heard about the break up almost immediately and refrained from doing anything about it until Lavender explained. Not that she needed to of course. She knew of the situation she was burdened with, one she had promised to help her with step by step. It was a promise she intended to keep but what harm was there to have a little fun? The Slytherin had been informed that one of her favourite Lions was sitting outside the portrait and she slowly walked out, her messy black waves that she had inherited from her uncle fell in front of her face after she ran her fingers through it. "Lavender." Artemis cared greatly for the girl and as she saw her figure sitting there, she bit back a smile. It saddened her that the girl was plagued with the Wolf curse but thankfully being an animagus, she'd protect her. Like her Uncle protected Remus.

Lavender was relieved that it was Artemis who had appeared at the entrance to the Slytherin common room, but she didn't smile. Artemis and David were close, and she didn't think it was appropriate to smile with the topic that she wanted to discuss with the other girl. Sighing as she stood up, she eyed Artemis for a moment, taking in the Slytherin's appearance. She considered Artemis one of her closest friends and she hoped that it would remain that way. "Artemis," she replied, nodding her head once in greeting, "I take it you've heard?" The other girl was oddly good at knowing the goings on of the school in general, and Lavender knew that when the subject of those goings on were one of her best friends she would have taken particular notice.

Artemis examined Lavender, taking in her appearance for any signs of distress like she always did and she moved a little closer, her head tilted like a dog who's attention has been drawn. The question was predictable and if it had been anyone else, Artemis would've left out of boredom but as it was Lavender, her feet were stuck firmly to the ground. "Yes. Someone saw it happening, they told another person and I was passing by at the same time. Then, obviously, David came to me. Explaining how he tried to fight for you and how he refused to let you go but you were adamant on leaving him." Artemis murmured with a wave of her hand. Due to her pretty much destroyed love life, she avoided going down that path. "But, before you ask, I do not hate you. I made a promise to stay by your side and I will. More now than ever. I think what you did, was a good thing. I understand how David can get and besides, what did you actually have in common? Apart from house and your amazing choice in friends?" At the last bit, Artemis winked as it was in her nature to make others laugh, even if she couldn't herself.
