Potions Lesson Empty Potions Lesson

Post by Severus Snape Tue Oct 13, 2015 4:48 pm

Sitting behind his large oak desk, Severus was bent low over an old tome, deeply immersed in the Latin descriptions of old dark potions which he had been studying for some time already. Only the appearance of a small, shaking house elf that dropped a cup of tea which he had ordered managed to draw his attention from the thick book. Slowly, he looked up at the elf, his dark eyes partly hidden by his lank black hair. The creature’s fear of him only increased and Severus sneered coldly at it. “Clean it up.” He ordered, his voice deadly calm and the elf quickly hastened to obey his command.

At last, a cup of steaming tea was standing in front of him and Severus was about to turn his attention back to his book when he noticed the elf still standing next to his desk, fidgeting with its filthy clothes. Eyes narrowing dangerously, he glared at the misfortunate creature. “What is it, Elf!” he snapped, making the poor thing jump in fright. “Ma … maas… master Snape, Sir. You class is waiting outside, Sir, Potions Master, Sir.” It stuttered horribly, making Severus grind his teeth in irritation. “Get out.” He hissed and with a wave of his wand, the book vanished into a drawer behind his desk.

Pushing himself to his feet, Severus moved towards the door, his robe billowing around him. The elf vanished with a shriek when he passed it and Severus pushed open the door, making it bang against the wall. Crossing his arms in front of his chest, he stood in the doorway, glaring at the students that were waiting outside.

“Scared, mudblood?” Thanatos sneered at a young Hufflepuff girl that looked absolutely terrified when the door banged open and Snape stood in front of them. It was always hilarious and to be honest, also quite pathetic how some of the blood traitors reacted to those Professors that were under the Dark Lord’s command. "Good afternoon, Sir." he greeted with a smirk and walked a bit closer, waiting for his teacher to let them in.

Post by Endymion Snape Tue Oct 13, 2015 5:02 pm

Mio was several minutes early, knowing that his father could get downright nasty if students arrived late and so he was already leaning against the wall beside the potions classroom way before anyone else had arrived. It was their first lesson since the battle and Mio dreaded almost more than the lessons last year when he still believed his father to be a traitor. Now he would have to watch his own reactions, so that no one would figure out that his father was still on their side after all. With a sigh, Mio rubbed his neck and waited for his friends.

Post by Darcy Culkin Tue Oct 13, 2015 5:10 pm

Striving to get to class on time, Darcy ran down the halls until he had gotten to where the potions classroom. He looked at the door a bit and backed away in hopes of not getting seen; potions wasn't a favorite of his considering how he mainly just did the bare minimum while praying to whoever to not get scolded at. The Hufflepuff struggled to make himself seem smaller just wanting to not be acknowledged by anyone. Looking around, he gave a worried expression.

Potions Lesson Empty Re: Potions Lesson

Post by Neville Longbottom Tue Oct 13, 2015 5:14 pm

Neville approached the potions classroom with dread, though he cheered slightly when he spotted his friend and house mate. “Hey Mio.” He greeted quietly, knowing that Snape could descend on them any seconds, usually straight out of the shadows and without any sound. He looked over at a younger Slytherin who was bothering another student, but kept his mouth shut. As long as it didn’t go past the usual few insults, Neville would stay out of it. He had no interest in getting another detention with Snape or the Carrows, though he hated the potions master even more than the other two Death Eaters. He was a filthy traitor, a murderer. He had killed Albus Dumbledore in cold blood and for that Neville would never forgive him and he knew that most others thought just like him. His friend next to him seemed rather tense and Neville placed a hand on Mio’s shoulder. “Relax mate, let’s just not get in trouble here, alright?” he said in a low whisper, knowing how hard it had to be to have a traitor as a father.

Post by Ian Mortinson Tue Oct 13, 2015 5:20 pm

Ian had chased down from Herbology to get to potions on time and he just skidded to a halt beside his friends when Snape opened the door. Spying the Hufflepuff he had talked to a short while ago, Ian nodded friendly at him and motioned him over. It wasn’t good to be on their own, especially not in the Slytherin’s domain; the dungeons. And with Snape as their teacher, they couldn’t count on him for protection. Ian had to control himself not to send a glare at the man; murderer! And he stood a little closer to Mio in silent support.

Post by Violet Snape Tue Oct 13, 2015 5:28 pm

Violet, Tatsu and Nyx walked together towards the potions classroom, which wasn’t that far away from their common room where they had been playing exploding snap or a while. When they arrived, a few other students had already gathered and Nyx rolled her eyes at her brother’s rude behavior. That boy really had no style at all, she thought and shook her head. Tatsu nodded at Mio and his friends before leaning against the wall to wait while Violet just stood between them. When her father opened the door for them, she immediately picked up on the hostility from many of the other students, basically all that were no Death Eaters and it pained her, but she knew that she could not show any of her feelings on the outside.

Noticing the older Hufflepuff, who he found to be silly and dumb, he tilted his head. He began to see that the other appeared to want him to go over to where he was. "What do you want, silly old boy?" Darcy asked squinting his eyes. "Don't you get that all I need is a spider for a friend? You silly old boy..." His social skills weren't really up to par due to isolating himself from others for the past few years of his life.

Ian's eyes widened when the other Hufflepuff started to speak and he quickly reached over to place his hand over his mouth, pulling the other boy closer against him to shut him up. "Shut up, you idiot! Do you want Snape to kill all of us?" he hissed under his breath, glancing over to their teacher to make sure that they hadn't been heard. He felt his heart beat frantically in his chest as he knew what kind of torture the Death Eaters were capable of. Beside him, Neville was started to cough in an attempt to drown out the chatting, shooting his friend a glare that told him clearly to shut the younger boy up and Ian shrugged his shoulders at him. "Stay quiet, just don't make a sound, alright? Just pretend you’re not here, always works best with Snape." he whispered again to Darcy.

Glancing over at Snape, Darcy began to frantically shake his head no as his body began to shake. He considered himself to be too young to die, even if he was dissatisfied with life as he knew it. It wasn't until that moment until he had realized how dangerous a professor could be due to how Ian had reacted. Giving a frightful glance, he replied in a very soft whisper in hopes that only Ian would hear it, "Okay... I don't want to die..."

Feeling the younger boy begin to tremble under his hands, Ian quickly released his hold on him, though he still kept him close in case he was going to freak out now or anything. When he heard the soft whisper, he relaxed slightly, realizing that the younger boy had not lived through a war like most of them here and was probably not used to having to fear his teachers. "It's alright, just stay close and be silent then you'll be fine." he whispered back.

Post by Darcy Culkin Tue Oct 13, 2015 6:31 pm

"Okay... I'm so afraid. I don't want to die. I'm too young," he whispered slightly sniffling wanting to cry. Darcy never went through the horror of war, so this happened to be a new experience to him. At the most, he thought teachers would just have an attitude problem with the majority being caring and thoughtful wanting to help. Closing his eyes, small tears began to form as his body began to shake even more. His life was bad enough, so why did he have to fear potentially losing it?

Post by Elysium Kade Tue Oct 13, 2015 7:42 pm

Elysium decided to go to one of her classes, watching as Snape allowed people's entrance but what she took in closely, was the sight of the fear etched across their faces. They were meant to be hidden but thanks to her knowledge of human emotions and body language, it was so plain to see. "Didn't you hear your friend, puff? Be silent. I can hear your teeth chattering as you shake. Very off putting." Elysium whispered into his ear, biting back a grin as she scanned the faces all around them before staring up at Professor Snape. "Why 'ello, Professor." The slytherin quipped, brushing past a taller Gryffindor to enter the classroom leaving her scent of gunpowder and roses floating in the air as she sat down close to the back of the room.

Abbadon leaned back against the wall on he other side of the corridor, watching the two Hufflepuffs. One was obviously afraid and the other way trying to get him to stop. Smirking to herself, she pushed away from the wall and headed toward the door. As she walked past them, she paused and muttered so only the pair could hear, "the teachers aren't the only ones to be afraid of, either." With a wink, she continued walking, smiling brightly at the professor as she entered the classroom and found a seat.

Post by Cinnia Valkyrie Tue Oct 13, 2015 11:41 pm

Cinnia was silent as the class waited outside for the professor to let them in. She had always been quiet, but without her sister, she was even more so. But she wasn't going to give up on life entirely, so for now she settled with the daily task of classes and homework. It wasn't hard to do, but she kind of wished that she had someone to talk to about things like she once had. After the battle, she had slipped away, going with neither the Order nor the Death Eaters, and instead to her family home where she had continued training even more vigorously than she had been before. She watched the her housemate speak two a pair of Hufflepuffs, who seemed to be having some kind of trouble, but she didn't say anything. Really, everyone had needed to grow up quickly during the war, and so far many had. Others had instead dwelled on other things, rather than accepting the fact that nowhere was safe anymore. Following a second housemate into the classroom, the redhead did not even acknowledge the professor or her classmates, before finding a seat at the back of the room, hoping that she would be left alone but also hoping that someone might join her.

If it weren't for the professor, Potions just might have been Lavender's favourite class. If she hadn't decided that she would need to talk to the greasy man eventually, she would have avoided the place all together. But she knew that she couldn't brew what she needed herself, and that if anyone in the castle could do it properly it was him. But for now she was just going to attend the class as was required of her and hopefully stay out of trouble. She didn't enter when the Slytherins did, noticing that the man had not told them to go inside. Snakes could get away with almost anything, and it was no longer just reserved for Potions. So she stood short way from the door, waiting to be allowed inside.

Post by James Orion Lupin Wed Oct 14, 2015 12:42 am

It was James' first class since he had returned to school, and he couldn't say he was looking forward to it. He knew that he would need to work twice as hard to be able to pass, and that was if any of the information would stay in his mind at all. He wasn't looking forward to that, thinking that he may end up needing a tutor or something.

Post by Nelle Rosier Wed Oct 14, 2015 12:46 am

Nelle approached the group of students outside of the Potions classroom, smiling happily at anybody who would look even vaguely in her direction. Noticing her two housemates, she offered Ian a smile and looked at the younger boy. "It'll be alright," she said quietly enough that only they could hear her. She honestly thought that the younger boy needed to harden up before he ended up getting himself and those around him killed, but not even a single hair on her head showed those thoughts. "Can we go in, professor?" she asked, turning her smile to the man next to the door.

Lilith came just in time and blended into the crowd, smirking slightly as she watche two Hufflepuffs interact. She imidiately took a seat next to Abbadon. "It's refreshing to see them finally taking their rightful place... shaking with fear under the table," she chuckled in whisper towards her horsemen friend.

Looking up as a familiar face joined her at the desk, she smirked and rolled her eyes. "All so fearful," she said, her voice low so that it blended in with the other voices and noises around them, "I expected more of a fight, really. It's kind of.. boring. But at least they know where they belong, you're right, of course." She rested her boot clad foot on the back of the chair in front of her, leaning back a little in her own. "Wonder if any of them realise how lucky they are to even be here," she said, "or to be alive at all. I still don't understand this stupid no-death policy."

At the mention of no killing, Lilith rolled her eyes. "The Gaunt ladies give orders. I guess they need somebody for the first line. Why sacrifice the best, when you can do the same with the useless? I just hope it won't take long. This whole secret loyality thing is getting annoying and complicated," Lilith replied, just like Abbadon, using her training to blend in with her voice.

"The best?" Abbadon asked as if the idea was ludicrous, "the think that these imbeciles could be the best? Wow.. I mean, I respect the two of them, of course, but I'm surprised they see any value in these people." Abbadon was not blind. She knew that some of the kids had some potential, but surely the weak ones could die. "I need something to do," she added, "I'm getting far too restless with so many people who should be dead already hanging around."

Abbadon smirked, nodding her head as she considered when the next best chance to talk to her brother would be. She didn't care too much about missing classes, so she would find him during the day sometime. "Hopefully it's something good," the blonde said, "I haven't been anywhere since I got back." Abbadon had spent a very long time being someone else, and so she missed the thrill and the blood more than she ever had before. "This well be able to catch him after Potions?" she asked, eyeing a nearby student, but not caring as she knew they wouldn't be able to hear her.

Sithon had followed Violet through the dungeons to their next lesson. Potions was neither his favourite nor his most hated subject; he basically couldn’t care less, though he still tried to be on his best behavior for his friend’s sake. He nodded at Mio and the other Order Members and kept waiting with his friend. When they at last were allowed inside, he quickly pulled Violet with him to take their seats in one of the darker parts of the room.
