I know who I am, but I'm scared. (Closed)
Astoria sat on the camp bed in her tent, her face buried in her hands as she considered what was going on. Everything was frustrating her, and even worse was that she already knew who she was. Staying there, at the camp with her friends was the right thing to do, and it was what she knew she wanted to do. Even the fact that her mother and father were on the other side- his side- didn't do anything to sway her. What did make her question what she had decided was the fact that her younger sister was also out there. Astoria knew that it was likely where Annabelle wanted to be. That didn't stop her wondering, though. It wasn't fair, really. Part of her wished that she could have been a believer in Voldemort's ideals, just so she didn't have to be on the other side to her family.
Perhaps she should have been thinking more about how her other sister, Daphne, wasn't even on a side. She didn't have the liberty of choosing. As she thought about her older sibling, she felt the moisture grow in her eyes. The sister she'd always been closest to was dead. Even if they hadn't been so close recently, it didn't change the fact that Daphne wasn't coming back. As she covered her face with her hands once more, she realised that she would never return to her parents and Annabelle, and that made her feel more alone than ever.

Ian wiped the sweat of his brow after having helped some girls set up a tent for the night and took a moment to just stand in the middle of the quidditch pitch, looking up at the night sky. It was odd how the start could be shining so brightly, even in such dark times, but it was also oddly comforting to know that there were some things that just always remained unchanged no matter what chaos and disaster struck the world.
The small smile that had appeared on his face quickly drifted off, as his thoughts went to all the people that had died, first and foremost, his little brother and Ian had to fight off tears that were threatening to spill down his cheeks. He had cried enough. It would not bring James back, but the pain in his heart was still sharp. He hadn't even managed to work up the courage to write his parents, yet, but for now that had to wait. He was not the only one who had lost loved ones. Mio had lost his mum, David had lost his mum, Astoria had lost her sister. So many lives taken because some egomaniac dark wizard wanted to rule the world.
Ian snorted and shook his head, deciding to check up on his friend. He found Mio watching over his sleeping sisters and Neville and Luna sleeping close to each other, Artemis and David were close by as well and Ian breathed a sigh of relief before walking on, looking for Astoria. She had also lost a sibling, two actually, as Annabelle wasn't with them either and he worried about her.
When he finally found her sitting on her bed, Ian couldn't help but wonder if she felt as alone as she looked at this very moment. Stopping in the entrance, he tried to smile slightly, though probably didn't quite manage to pull it off. "Hey ... I hope you don't mind some company?" he asked softly.

Becoming upset was not something new to Astoria. Ever the actress, though, she kept it confined to when she was alone and out of sight of other people. She wanted to be there for her friends, rather than having them be there for her. So many people had lost so many, and now was the time to start putting the pieces back together. The only problem was, that Astoria didn’t know what pieces she even had left. Her childhood was gone, and unlike majority of her peers, she couldn’t even pretend that she was still the same person. The person that she once was was someone who would not be in the camp. The person who she once was would have left with the rest of the Death Eater’s children. If she was still that person, she would be sixty seven years old, likely with a couple of children and a boring life. All that she had now were the few friends that she’d made throughout her Hogwarts years, and that was why she didn’t want to be bringing them even further down than they already were.
So, when she heard a familiar voice, she quickly dropped her hands from her face, wiping her tears as she did so and she placed the most convincing smile she could muster on her lips. Unfortunately, no matter how well she had grown to pretend, she wasn’t able to find the sadness in her eyes. And Ian, despite doing his best, was not able to fake a smile nearly as well as he tried to. But, she never mentioned it. His brother’s death was still something that she had trouble dealing with, and sometimes she thought that it hurt more than the loss of her sister. She hadn’t been able to help Daphne, but she should have been able to help James.
“I always like your company, Ian,” she answered, moving to the head of the bed so that there was room for him to sit, “do they need more food?” It was a common question that she asked, as she had been able to easily obtain food for the camp. She didn’t tell anyone how it was so easy, or how she selfishly managed to have a real shower and clean clothes by the time that she returned from her expeditions. On either note, the people around her seemed happy that they were at least able to eat, and Astoria was glad to be doing her part.
