A New Beginning

Scarlett hauled her suitcase down the hall, trailing closely behind the House Elf that was suppose to be taking her to her new dorm room. Looking around in amazement, Scarlett tried her best to memorize the path and halls the Elf and her scurried through. When they came to a stop, the Elf took out a key and unlocked the dorm room. "Here you go," the Elf stated in a heavy Ireland accent, "Thank you!" she replied after the Elf as it made itself down the hallway. Taking a deep breath Scarlett entered the room, dropping her things at the door. Looking around, she spotted a steady desk, a few wooden beds backed up against a wall and a giant painting of Helga Hufflepuff, the founder of her house. "Bless our souls, Helga," she sighed, falling back on the bed that sat on the far right of the room.

Ginny looked at her dorm nervously. She hesitated before opening the door, pulling her bag along. Looking around she spotted a Hufflepuff girl, and a portrait of Helga Hufflepuff. The girl was lying on a bed to the far right, she noticed. If she knew her, she wouldn't be able to tell. She looked around nervously, and chose a bed near a window. She sat on her bed timidly, and peeked out the window, looking at the view of the Hogwarts grounds.

Luna hauled her bags up the stairs being too stubborn to ask the elf for help. She saw two other girls in the dorm and placed her trunk next to a four poster bed in the corner. She looked closely at the girl laying on the bed and grinned. ''Ginny! Scarlett!'' She hugged each of the girls happy they were sharing a dorm. She sat on her bed leaning against the wall with a bright smile.

Ginny turned around and looked up when she heard her name. "Hi Luna!" She said, hugging Luna back. She walked to her bed and pulled a transfiguration book out.

Luna grins. ''Seems we're roomies..This is going to be great!'' She lays down on the bed grinning to herself.

Scarlett laid spread out on the sheet-less bed, she assumed was now hers to call her own. Turning her attention to the door when she heard someone enter, "Ginny?" she wondered quietly as the young Hufflepuff went to timidly take ownership of the bed with a window view. Picking herself quietly off the far right bed cot, Scarlett went to go sit with her friend, she now recognized as Ginny. Doing the same as Ginny, Scarlett took site out the window, "Wow! What a beautiful site of the grounds," she commented quietly, although she was telling the truth. From the view of the window, you could see the Black Lake, the Quidditch stadium, and the Astronomy Tower if you angled yourself just right. Scarlett then opened but closed her mouth as she was interrupted by Luna's tackling bear hugs. "Yes, it's seems to me we are going to be roommates," she replied, chuckling at Luna's comments about being roomies. "But I call dips on the last bed," she called out, jumping from the bed with a view, to the bed in the middle, to her own bed, landing cross-legged.

Ginny looked at Rose. "It's beautiful, isn't it?" She said. She smiled. She liked the view of the Lake best. She smiled. She looked out the window, seeing the sun setting, making the sky a beautiful pink color. She looked at Rose and Luna, happy that her roommates where people she knew.

Luna laughs. ''and i shall stay in the shadows just like always!'' She claps her hands with happiness as she stares at her friends. She smiled at the thought of friends and curled up on her bed.

Scarlett laughed slightly at Luna's comment, "I've never seen you hide in the shadows before," she sarcastically stated, "It's more like you're the light being brought to the shadows," she added, laughed some more.

Luna playfully growls. ''My sister is light and i'm the dark. I'm moon and she's dawn...The way it's always been really.'' She laughs along with a big smile. She ties her hair up and then sees a mirror and looks at it fixing her eye make up, sitting back on the bed with a smile.

Scarlett bended over the end of her bed, bridging up and kicking over on her head. Crawling over to see what Luna was doing in the mirror, Scarlett watching from the floor as Luna fixed her eye make-up. "I didn't know you wore make-up, Lulu?"

Luna smirks. ''Only for my eyes. My lips are weirdly this dark?'' She shrugs. ''Do you or am i going to be the only one with the make up?'' She grins.

Scarlett shrugged, "Is that how people tell you and your sister apart?" she wondered, crawling over to look through her homework planner. "Grr.. we have homework for Potions, History of Magic, and for Transfiguration," she stated, fiddling with her notes from Astronomy. ''Do you or am i going to be the only one with the make up?''Luna asked from her bed, "No, not really! You could do it one day if you like,"

Luna grins. ''Yeah i guess so. She has pale pink and doesn't wear make up. She's a freaking angel really.'' She shrugs at the mention of homework. ''Sure. I'd love to! My sister's used to do it with me as it's like a bonding thing?'' She grins.

Scarlett smirked, "Is that a bad thing? You know, her personality being so angelic," she asked, taking her Astronomy library book out of her bag. "I did some research yesterday afternoon on Jupiter's moons," she stated, flipping through the printed information she received from the librarian. "It's very interesting, actually," she added, "That Galileo Galilei guy, not only discovered the 4 largest moons, but he discovered the first objects found to orbit a body that was neither Earth nor the Sun," she read straight from the text, running her finger along the words. Luna then agreed to do Scarlett's make-up for her one day. Scarlett clapped her hands out of happiness, "That would be so cool!"

Luna shrugs. ''No it ain't a bad thing but it's just that seeing as we're twins...people expect me to be the same? A perfect girl but i ain't. We're the opposites. She's the light and i'm the shadow that always follows.'' She just smiles slightly. ''That's interesting and yes yes it would be. I will treat you all like family. That's how i'd like to think of you guys here..'' She blushes slightly.

Scarlett smiled, blushing slightly at Luna's comment, "I think of you and Andromeda as family! You guys are like my older sisters and I'm like the youngest sister," she commented, a rosy pink splashing its way through the light brown. "And I think its awesome, that you and your sister are different. I mean, who would want to look and act exactly like someone else,"

Luna laughs at her blush. ''More family! Awesome!'' She watches her eyes and grins. ''We look the same yes. There's no difference except our birthmarks.'' She shrugs and turns to her with a smile.

Scarlett gasped, "You have a birthmark? Cool! Where? Can I see it?" she asked, observing Luna's arms and legs are something unique. Unique. Luna and Scarlett's favorite word to describe something different.

Luna blushes as she observes her. She covers her arms and legs afraid of her scar's showing. She moves her hair away from her neck, revealing a dark crescent moon. ''My neck...my sister has a sun.'' She smiles.

Scarlett noticed Luna's insecurity towards her scars and bruise, but decides to let it pass for now. "No person should have to hide their scars to be beautiful," she quoted silently as she moved closer for a better look. "That would explain your names! You know, you and your sister really took on a personality when your parents gave you the names,"

Luna looks at her with big eyes. ''These scar's a horrid part of my life...I will never hold beauty or do i wish to...I just wish to forget.'' She says silently and shrugs the sadness away and looks at Scarlett getting closer. She cranes her neck more so the light shows it a bit more. ''Yeah it does. We wanted to...if we didn't then that would be like...forgetting what our parents wanted for us. It also just seemed to be in our nature..ya know what i mean?'' She grins, the sadness she felt buried.

Scarlett nods her head, slowly backing away, "Where did the..." she trailed off, mentally arguing with herself whether she should ask or not. Deciding she should learn all that she can, Scarlett asks, "Where did the scars come from?"

Luna notices she's mentally arguing herself. She nods at her question and gestures for her to get comfortable. She leans her back against the wall and looks through the window.

''My sisters and I loved the comfort of our own home as it was the only thing that tied us to our parents. Then my older sisters started travelling the world which my twin and I didn't mind. She was reading one night and there was a fair at the town nearby. Fireworks, bonfire, laughing and just happiness. I needed to get out. So i went. I had a lovely night. People talked to me as if they knew me...they knew my parents. Then...as the night grew longer and darker, i started heading back. There was four men. They apparently hated my family. Mostly us girls as well...they said all of us girls were in an arranged betrothal with them boys. But due to my mother dying and my father going missing, it was ended. They were angry...so they attacked me. They were following me all night apparently. So they locked me in a room. They started holding knives to my arms and legs threatening me. They started hitting me...but i took no care. I just bit my lip and didn't scream. I wouldn't. I was adamant on giving them what they want. Three left and one stayed behind. The one i was meant to marry. He did things... but my magic just mixed strongly with my emotions and a lightning bolt hit the building, setting it ablaze. The ropes that were around my wrists were covered in my blood but the fire burnt it. I escaped with these scar's and ran home. I never, ever looked back...I can't.''

She states, feeling sad at telling her story. ''Aurora freaked when she saw me. By freaked, i mean...She fainted. The elves helped her after me giving them a good telling and i just healed myself.''

Scarlett eyed her bed and took a sit on it like Luna told her. Listening carefully, Scarlett fiddled with her fingers as she listened to the horribly tragedy story. Nodding her head, Scarlett met Luna's gaze, "I understand what you mean by wanting to forget, but like it or not that situation made you the person you are today. Okay so, those scars don't hold beauty but they do show how strong of a person you are," she stated, the words making Scarlett sounded older than what she is.
