Don't Shoot The Messenger (Kain)

Mariya sat on Kain's bed staring at the ceiling. She'd been hanging out with her best friend often lately but this wasn't a pleasent social call. Her father knew she was close to Kain though she had tried to hide it from him Bruce had a way of knowing everything. Her father had summoned her to his clearing and informed her he had killed Kain's parents and given her there weddings rings to give to kain. She clutched the cold steal in her hands and pulled her knees to her chest and covered her face. She didn't want to do this but she didnt want her dad to tell kain she wanted to atleast be the one to soften the blow.

Pushing the door to his dorm open, Kain looked around for Ares, Draco or Klaus, but found no one but Mariya sitting on his bed. "What the hell are you doing here, is this some kind of message? Is Malphas not doing enough?" he joked as he entered and hurled his bag at the wall and pulled his shirt over his head, knowing Mariya had no trouble being in the same room as him with him shirtless, years of practice did that to a girl, he guessed.

"Like i'd crawl into your bed" she rolled her eyes on reflex for a moment forgetting the situation. She looked at him and bit her lip "K..Kain um..it is a message..not from Mal though...but from my father"

"Professor Carrow? What does he want?" he asked raising a brow as he took a seat on his bed, cracking his fingers before slipping his ring off his finger and placing it on his end table next to the bed.

"My...My dad hates your dad..do you know why?" she said her voice was soft the rings cutting into her skin leaving marks.

*bump*

"One of my dad's men killed your father's friend," he answered his brow, if possible, shooting higher up into his foerhead.

Mariya's grip on the rings in her palm tightened "Your father waged a war and was held responsible for the deaths that took place there...my..my father saw Marcus as responsible for the death of uncle stephen as if he did it himself..." She dropped her eyes as she spoke "Kain..y..your parents are..your parents are dead" she finally said. She looked up catching his eyes her own filled with remorse "My father killed them.."

Kain took a deep breath as he heard that yet again, someone was blaming Marcus for what his soldiers had done in the war the Grimms had caused. "My father always considered himself responsible..." He responded before she cut him off delivering the news. For a moment there he had no reaction because he had almost been expecting such a thing. However soon the rage began pilling up... "Mariya... I'm going to kill Bruce...." he warned simply.

"I'm going to kill bruce"

His words slammed into her head in she covered in her mouth with her free hand, she bit her lip hard and looked away. "I'd be stupid to expect anything less" she croaked finally then held out her hand holding his parents rings. "I retrieved these for you.."

Snatching the rings from her hand he hid them deep inside his pocket, as he sat down, on Ares' bed, not on his own. "Mariya... your father... he will have an army after him..." he warned. Kain had always been away from the matters of war that was always Kallinicus and Marcus' job, but now they were gone and no more, would he step aside. It was his time to rule and the Shadow family now belonged to him, the rightful heir. Along with his uncle Fenix, he knew he could take Carrow down. No matter the cost...

She was lost for words she didn't know what to say to him, "if you kill him you do know you'll only force retaliation...and malphas wont be the one you will have to fear.." she whispered looking up at her best friend.

Standing up his eyes narrowed as he looked at her his killing intent just the same as if he was looking into Bruce's eyes, "Shadows don't fear anyone," he reminded her.

She bit her lip looking up at him pleedingly from her spot on his bed "Kain...don't turn your back on me..."

Leaning down he stared into her eyes shaking with rage, "Then... don't get in my way," he growled.
